Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Within range, FnF missiles are almost always better than SACLOS ones, and both the IRIS-T SLS and VT1 have 12km range.

Technically also 8 missles if you set a ammo box next to yourself

the energy level is a big gap. VT-1 gets nearly 4 mach max speed while IRIS-T only less than 3mach.
VT-1’s max operating range is about 8, IRIS-T should be shorter

You can reliably kill a su34 with a VT1 at 10km range, with the SLS it will be quite a bit harder to impossible, it will have bigger time to target and will probably just fall out of the sky at more than 10km.

MAYBE, we will be lucky and it will be a modification to unlock

I expect it to be no less than a year and a half away.

U are forgetting burn time mattering a lot
Iris-t is a tvc missle they have more constant burn to move. Meaning it reaches bigger ranges even if it has a speed limit.

U cant compare it to the chapparol

It has a 10-12km range, with an 6km altitude ceiling.

Some people here apparently just dont know what burn time and similar in a missle is.
Max speed is not everything in a missle

You seem to be lost.

What this have to do with Warthunder?

I thought this was the war thunder fourms not warno

I didn’t even know that WARNO was a thing until now.

its been a thing over a year now if not 2

It released last year.

Did you think you were in the WARNO forums?

well, then R-73, I use Chaparral just because it’s in game, and easier to understand.
oh and then you will say modern German tech can make a rocket with super high energy propeller so it will last much longer than R-73.
remind you 6km celling(5km in dev) is quite low in game, compared to about 8km of VT-1.

Holy hell, you last played this game 55 Years Ago, were you the one that planted the idea into the game devs head?

Iris-t literaly developed out of the R-73 and is better then it yeah. You point is pretty wrong there.

There is more that plays into effect here.

Type 03 50km range 10km ceiling.
Derby er 40km 12km ceiling.
Iris-t slm 40km 20km ceiling.

A lot of factors play into it.
Fact still is iris-t sls stated stuff is 10-12km with 6 km ceiling. There is active war proof of that, which of course cant be used here.

Stuff like drag, weight and so on all play into effect

yes, battery, ballistic management, etc
max range is not a very reliable data, celling is better. you can clam a range as long as you can get there, gliding or any other way.
meanwhile celling is more strict, you can’t get there if without enough energy.
not saying celling is strictly correct, it’s also affected by things like test environment or test targets. But I can say, SLM should be much better in energy level than 03 and Derby ER, and is really a longer range SPAA.
