What confuses me is Germany getting 8x IRIS-T 40km SLM while there is no sign of 4x MICA VL for France with ranges of 20km.

I mean sure, but this reasoning excludes adats, which is far from ITO, and it doesn’t seem like UK and US are getting a medium range system either (of course subject to change, leak list not final)
And even in the case of France, while i would consider ITO second best SPAA currently, it’s still not enough to deal with planes with UFO flight models and KH38s, especially past 6-7 km.
Being stuck with ADATS or ITO while everybody else moves to F&F 20-40km range Radar or IR guided missile would be kind of miserable.
It’s not like systems don’t exist either, MICA VL for France, SLAMRAAM for the US, and CAMM for the UK are all in between the new Chinese AA and the SLM in terms of capabilities

if one side has more of the new SAMs and the better ones (lets be real they arent all built equal) it is not gonna be a fair fight, one side will just have more players in better SPAA that can deal with threats far further out, the other team could easily have a single SPYDER that while good isnt gonna be able to handles just 2 Su30SM

Like I don’t get how people find ways to complain about more nations getting good SAMs. This is beneficial for everyone.
