Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Yeah… and even stupidly easy things can take way too long to fix or add.

I know its minor, but it drives me nuts that only a single Tornado has gotten the bigger ferry fuel tanks, despite being an easy C&P over to at least the other ADVs

Agreed

We’ve gotten quite a lot of aircrafts lately (Rafale, Eurofighter, Hornets, Su-30SM, J-11B…) so it’s just fair that ground players get their update… And it’s not that bad for us either, I mean we’re 99% sure that we’re getting the so long awaited F-2A
We can survive getting “only” one top tier plane in this major update

I hope they don’t take from the Italian documents since the L1A2 was not stabilized

Same case with M551A1 TTS Sheridan, just a Sheridan with thermals and LRF. Not everything is known for this next update though right? Maybe we’ll see these relatively minor things.

Myself or any Technical Moderator or whatever forum topic is most applicable to the vehcile / map / subject in question.

You’ve said previously that this update is naval focused, you’ve also said that last year was an air focused year. Is it safe to say that this year is considered a naval focused year?

Add to that that a naval/SAM based teaser makes it really easy to still work this long awaited plane into a teaser rather than an anticlimactic devblog

“Gee, if only naval more emphasizing on cold war ships rather than more Battleships”

Its not currently planned anytime soon.

Any major reason why ASMs aren’t being added?

Unlike a lot of A2G weapons like MMW Brimstones or CBUs, they dont have a GRB balancing concern and would be almost entirely an Air mode weapon.

Many Air Sim maps have naval targets and it would be trivial to add naval targets to Air RB maps again.

Just seems like a no brainer for adding some interesting new gameplay angle for aircraft without the normal associated balancing concerns of new A2A or A2G weapons.

Heck, they could all just use the AS-34 Seeker as a placeholder like has been done with Fox-3s and many aircraft could just straight recieve the AS-34. Would only need a small handful of unique alternatives like Sea Eagle which is largely based on the AJ168 anyway

It’s funny, because the Exocet DOES use the seeker from an AS-34

Even better then :D

Generally it comes down to the practicalities of some of them. If it can be dual mode and hit ground too (like Penguin) then its naturally of higher priority for the game than weapons that have extreamly limited use.

So efforts and resources are focused on weaponry that has the widest practical use and appeal.

Thats not to say some wont come. Some already have.

I mean, hopefully. After all J-10B was leaked along with the J-11B and vehicles leaked in the past may appear in future updates as well, including this one.

Then again I wouldn’t expect Gaijin to make it very good, it has a huge debuff in there being essentially zero reliable information on its systems (J-10C ironically has more since it is exported) and the state of VT-5 doesn’t give me much hope, J-11B has its accuracy issues as well.

China can honestly be a major nation with how much vehicles that can be added, yet the pace in terms of additions in general is quite slow.

J-10A isn’t what you would call bad but it’s definitely no Eurofighter or especially Rafale, J-11B is more so a sidegrade. J-11B could’ve been added with the F-15C since they perform quite similarly. Even an early J-16 wouldn’t feel out of place considering we already have airborne AESA radars in the game and mid-late 2010s fighters, J-16 fits that timeline.

I’m definitely happy that China is getting a new SPAA, I’m very happy that Japan finally gets the F-2A (I wanted it for so long since I got bored playing the F-15J), and Sweden actually getting a F/A-18 on par with the one currently in the American tech tree, but not having the J-10B come as well would be a very strange decision imo. I wonder if it is because Gaijin intended to add the J-10B earlier but had to delay it because of the lack of information to model it as I described above.

It’s kind of strange though the Kormoran hasn’t at least been added to the other aircraft that use it. The German F-104G and, ASSTA1 and the Italian Tornados.

It is nonetheless a shame that the availability of weapons for aircraft is largely dictated by their usefulness in a ground gamemode that requires you to play tanks.

Heck, take Brimstone for example. Wouldnt be an issue with full LOAL mode 3 operation within the contecxt of ARB/ASB.

Yeah, or even just that. There is a tiny argument about modeling new weapons, but ones already in game?

Its just a bit wierd. Heck the GR1 can carry 4x AJ168s. they arent Sea Eagles but would be “similar”
