I have hit Challengers in the ammo rack and not killed them.
Ammunition in this game is sadly but a diceroll. BVM’s (and all other carroussel autoloaders (292 not included) luckily are a 100% kill chance if you hit their “projectiles” (lower part on both T-80 and T-72 style autoloader) which for some stupid reason are modelled differently.
This 100% needs a change but luckily there is a consistent way around this issue that makes killing T-series mbts the most consistent out of any high tier mbt.
I do agree here, when the loader is knocked out, they usually have a cooldown of some seconds and then they can shoot with the longer loading rate, while the russian MBTs have to repair their entire autoloader to shoot again. I must say though tha if the turret baskets ‘nerf’ is to be applied to all nations that have them in real life, then this problem will be solved.
And then there’s the survivability. Everyone knows the bsic weak spot of the russian tanks, as all of them are the same and a big playerbase plays them, however, as you might have seen, some other tanks aren’t seen as much (the merkavas ar an example) and thus, the players don’t know where to shoot, though as long as you shoot at the plate (eithe upper or lower) you have a guaranteed critical and you might take some things like the gunner, the loader or the breach.
Yep, I saw a photo of the turret, quite interesting as I would’ve expected it to have one. Was it because everything was on the turret itself or something like that? Anyways if the turret baskets get added, the challengers might be a bit more playable though I must say that 540 mm of pen at top tier is quite weird considering other valies such as the 580 mm from russia and the ultimate 650 mm from the DM53s. Does Great Britain not have more advanced rounds with more pen? Or are they too much currently? I don’t have any Challengers though ao I don’t know how it fairs at top tier.
And also the second longest location name in the world behind Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit, the full name of Bangkok.
and is missing ERA perforation if/when that gets modeled. There is also a suspicion that L27A1s post-pen damage isnt quite right and needs a review.
Biggest buffs the CR2 needs right now is:
Missing armour added
Missing spall liners added
ERA overhaul
Ready rack increased from 4 rounds to 28 rounds
Regen Steering
Dozer blades (More fun than anything else)
That should keep us going fairly well for a little while long at the very least. And then we can get the Challenger 3 ( CR3TD doesnt count, its got no armour and missing most features like LWS) which can come with a better shell, etc.
Also, we can always go back to the old solution for the CR2, which was to give the CR2 a reload rate buff over other nations. We were the first or second to get 5 second reload years and years ago
One of the weakest tanks at top top right now. Lowest moblity (except for the CR2E), second or third worst protection, average shell, etc.
CR2BN is only “good” because it has some of hte best optics and the best APS
The recommended playstyle is rush into CAS, and stay in the air. (though with no decent IFVs because gaijin refuses to add them, its not quite as easy)
I think in that case the ask should be to nerf those munitions to bring parity as opposed to further buffing and exasperating the problem
As for your other comment:
I do fine as Japan and we don’t even have CAS lol. It’s not balanced but it’s not unplayable, fwiw
Outside of the usual issue of CAS being overbearing right now, I think the actual ground combat seems fine? The winning combination seems to be who keeps spawning instead of leaving the game
Then, there is no need to add a 40km range SPAA. Just need something 20km range like the Pantsir for all nations. But Id still like FnF Brimstones for ASB
Bare in mind, the TKX has a 4 second reload vs the CR2s 5 seconds (with a larger ready rack too), and a better shell (50mm more pen), better moblility (11kph faster), better zoom (not sure about thermal gen)
BN has better armour and the APS
TKX looks pretty decent for the current gameplay at top tier. Though like Britain, Japan seems to be denied top tier IFVs
Even still, the difference between 4 and 5 isn’t that huge. Even when fighting Abrams I do not get to take advantage of the 1 second difference as it’s rare that we both fire within a 1 second time frame and are unhurt enough to fire a followup shot, racing the timer
To be fair, even Pantsir would struggle past 12km. Maybe I’ve had bad Pantsir players but past 12km they struggle to hit me in my F-15J(M) at mid alt
this is what Pantsir like, in old times, nobody’s rwr can detect K band, so it’s a non-warning fast killer, but if you know it’s coming, its bad mobility becomes disadvantage
