Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Well, it probably would, we just gave up trying. Does the 9X work internally, I thought it couldn’t self-ignite so needed specialized bays in the F-22 to work properly, the F-35 doesn’t have those.

Still no leak?

9x is getting internal bay capability with the 35s 4th upgrade.

So, until the Block 4 it won’t make any difference? That’s good to know, it is kind of funny that the F-35 is likely not going to be run in a stealth configuration by most people in War Thunder

I knew i wasn’t crazy!

Spoiler

I will go peacefully when they arrive with the straight jacket.

Yeah odd it wasn’t able to with the block 1. I guess they could run straight AMRAAMs.

likely not considered a priority, with the internal bay being prioritized for multirole use, and external weapons expected to be used anyways, like I said, it would have probably required specialized Fox2 bays like on the F-22, and that didn’t fit with the design profile for the aircraft, especially as Britain was a primary partner and the extra effort needed to make sure they worked with ASRAAMs as well as AIM-9s

I dont know I have seen ASRAAMS wing tip mounted with the RAF/FAF F-35s and assumed the dimensions were off and that created the issue with them being externally mounted.

Every F-35 customer excluding the UK are going to have bought the 9X for their F-35. Japan probably trying to integrate AAM-5

Yeah at the end I guess it had gone so long in development and so over budget they had to get it out before making the better bays.

Everyone goes on about the need for a gun…The F-35 doesn’t even carry an IR missile (internally) :P

My hype for it disappeared entirely at this point, to be honest, hahah.

VT4A1 is already a mess, with worse mobility than MBT-2000, non-existant armor because the 83º UFP can’t bounce off shots even at 86º for some reason, underperforming glacis armor underneath the ERA…

And Thai VT-4 would be even worse: weaker engine, so even slower than VT4A1, and FY-2 ERA instead of FY-4, so even weaker than VT4A1…

Only way I could look forward to Thai VT-4 is if it were 11.3, to make a lineup with the Type 90s- maybe even 11.0, since it would be no better than MBT-2000 on the first place.

Unlike when they tried in the 60s, we probably are about at the point where guns stop mattering.

I mean if you can see the enemy, you’ve likely already messed up big time xD

Cannons still have a place in the battlefield but not for A2A anymore i feel. As for CAS the cannon will always have devastating effect on infantry after you run out of ordnance.

Dont think so neither they have been seen with 9X as well.

Neither at the moment. The only vehicles of that nationality are there due to the US origins of said vehicles. Don’t know about Philippines however.

It is possible we try and integrate the ASRAAM internally again later down the line once we have some Block 4 aircraft, though it seems that the standard loadouts for UK Block 4 aircraft will be

2 x ASRAAM on the wings
2-4 x Meteor in the internal bay
8 x Spear 3 for ground attack capability also internally mounted

I know they aren’t subtrees, the discussion was about the definition of subtrees and there was a claim of the US housing 4 other nations. The Philippines vehicle is a premium P-26, so same logic as the Greek Apache and the Iranian Tomcat.

The American P-26 is the Philippines aircraft in the US TT.

Something that saddens me about the 5th Gen American fighters is that they can only carry 2 Sidewinders; and, in F-35’s case, they must be external, messing up the stealth…

I mean, AIM-120C-5 (if Gaijin implemented it instead of having 5th Gen jets still with 120B) is probably so good that it would make IRs extremely situational, but still, hahah.

(I am talking about War Thunder only, obviously, not real life).

Such a shame this lack of compatibility will hurt Lockheed in the long run. Bet if things kicked off in Taiwan or Russia Lockheed would miraculously release the source code…

Hope to see Japan, the UK and Italy Gen 6 one day.
