Theres a sodoff size * in there though. From the 80s onwards there was a major push into Omanisation of the Oman Air Force. Not to even touch on the mercenaries branching of the Oman Air Force in the first decades.
Also that “British Royal family” bit is errr wow shall we say. The US fields more pilots then anyone, do we call our air force American? Or “the presidents uk air force?”
Theres a massive tie between Oman and the UK militarily in helping to secure the country, its education and advancement in air warfare, no need to go into that weird road.

The US have the Chaparral at 9.0 and the LAV-AD at 10.0. I am fairly sure they have something better than a Humvee with Stingers if there was a need to add something between those two.
