twice average will need much more than twice engine power. If so, the Brimestone should be much heavier and longer to contain the new rocket engine.
isn’t this because Gaijin badly made the Brimstone 1?

the nicest thing I can say about Britains Typhoon is that it’s the plane that will best be able to make good use of SAL Brimstones (granted they should be FNF not SAL but weak excuses to justify the nerf prevailed)
bc nyo
Sufa! (Get it?)
ya lol😂
Recon micro defends itself with flares as countermeasures and hellfire for targeting
All I can find is this:
Brimstone 2 features two significant upgrades over 1. The guidance system has been greatly improved against “challenging targets” (for example, those that are obscured or seen at odd angles) and a new Roxel rocket motor increase range by “more than 200%” with ranges reported as 40 km from helicopters and 60 km from aircraft. Range for ground launch should be similar to a helicopter.
I cant find any specifics of what the thrust increase was or increase in burn time, though Gunjob or Flame might have those soruces
Though going by:
There was no increase in mass
Massively.
Not that the Typhoon most likely coming this update for Britain will actually be able to use them :D
so the power shouldn’t increased much.
It’s like the effective range of BVR missiles. put away the seeker difference, AIM-120A’s power is not as good as AIM-7F, clearly AIM-120A has more efective range, by loft ballistic and longer battery
Or maybe the engine uses a different fuel that produces a lot more thrust and maintains a longer burn time. Perhaps also a new nozzle. I think Brimstone 1 essentially used a hellfire AGM motor, maybe designed in the 1980s. The Brimstone 2 is made within the last decade. Not hard to beleive that the effectiveness of the engine was increased significantly without notable difference in mass.
All sources attribute the increased range to the new motor and not to other upgrades or changes.
Also lofting isnt going to make that much of a difference when it comes to ground launch ranges. But the Brimstone 2 maintains the near doubling of those ranges even when ground launched
I believe there is improvement, but twice speed is beyond what modern Chemistry, rocket fuel didn’t get much progress in last few decades. On the contrary, some small changes in fins can easily reduce the missile’s drag and improve it’s glide ability.
If the increase is enough to take a 20km range missile into a 40km+ missile. then its guidance time should be reduced significantly when both fired at the same range (say 20km). That is basic math. It must have somewhere in the region of double the kinetic energy.
Brimstone 1s in game take 60 seconds to travel about 15km. Brimstone 2 I could easily see only taking around 30 seconds to travel that same distance, maybe even less at such close range
idk, i dont think thats how it should be done, imagine someone making a 2a7v/F-15E lineup through NATO, wouldnt be fun for anyone.
which is why i think it should only be implemented for countries/regions where more than 1 country has valid reasons to get it (like canada and australia with UK and US), or west aligned ASEAN to USA/Japan and east aligned to China, but no crossing UK and US vehicles
it most certain does not have unlimited countermeasures, it can get 2 more amraams, the gun is largely irrelevant at top tier, both will kill any air target pretty fast, except the m61 has a short spool up time when it should be very very little iirc
we will have to wait for advance eagle like F-15EX for that lol
29,500lb payload… what an absolute semi truck of a fighter jet
it don’t need double the kinetic, an extreme example is the development of bombs. Early high drag bomb can’t fly much longer, maybe 5km at most? but new low drag bombs like MK84, can easily fly 10km, if added some fins to provid little lift, can reach more than 20. and finally, the glide bombs, can even reach 100.
this can even be achieved by improvement in flight control computer, by better controls in fin aoa, to get perfect balance between lift and drag
Americans try not to make everything an absolute chungosaurus challenge : impossible
hey it is very good looking jet
You ain’t gotta tell me that, Ra’am is my boo
if we figure both missile are fired at the same altitidue and in the same manner.
Say like this:
but achieve double the range, then surely it has to be more than just clever use of fins.
Given the increase in range is universal for ground launch, rotor launch and air launch. I just cant see how you can achieve a 200% increase in range through lofting alone
cant wait for full integration with JASSM, i think ittll be able to carry more than 5 since they tested aregular E with 5
it will be the best CAS jet ingame, ever. no one else comes close in raw firepower, not even brits with their brimstones
