The US still gave the RAM 2 a designation based on the hull and engine being mostly the same, that designation was M4A5.
Britain was present before 1.27, tanks first appeared in 1.41
There were at least 5 major updates in between these two updates.
The M4A5 was added in 1.61, so even after the british tank tree was introduced.
The RAM 2 is in the US tree, so there is precedence for the RAM 1 going there as well.

After looking closely, I realized that this is photoshop, because the gold logo in the upper left corner is on the large scale
