If we’re discussing update names now, I’ll have a go. Certainly the current leak list does seem to have quite a few high-end vehicles for China. If Gaijin wanted to emphasize that I would guess something like “Dragon’s Teeth/Dragon’s Claw/Storm Dragons”
Or something to do with east cause like it would be more inclusive than just China, but also india and japan.something like Oriental would fit.
Just imagine Gaijin does what the RN did during the falklands. Weather proof the cockpit avionics by wrapping them in cling-film and stick the Aim-9Ls in a bread oven to dry them out before deployment :P
ik just making a diss at GJ
what are those smaller missiles?
AIM-4Ds, they aren’t too maneuverable and most of all don’t have a proxy fuse, they were super unreliable so the US went back to sidewinders.
Do early sidewinders like 9B have proxy fuse or are they normal fuse?
All sidewinders have proxy fuse, some early variants were a little… lackluster (look up how the soviets stole the AIM-9B)
Yeah, Mig 15 has 4 sidewinders stuck to it without exploding.
That was why I was confused cause if it’s not proxy fuse the mechanical failures is a bit too high.
Ehh that’s half true, a MiG-17(I think) only had one stick through the tail and the soviets “persuaded” the Chinese to hand it over for reverse engineering.
Edit: Yeah it was a MiG-17F
It happened more than once, first to a J5 then Mig15 of NKAF, happened 4 times in total including KMD ROCAF F86 AIM9B.
I can’t find anything else saying that, could you show me your source?
The ROCAF bit? I will try my best but it was from an article, ROCAF did claim a couple of kills on Mig9s although PLAAF doesn’t want people to know that. ROCAF did it straight after they got rid of the F47s.
The ROCAF got quite a few kills on MiG-17s over the Taiwan straight before they figured out what was going on. Then they stopped doing those flights because they were getting barbecued as the ROCAF developed better tactics lol.
People are likely going to buy the squadron JF-17
Yeah, PL2 wasn’t quite ready and Mig 17 doesn’t even have G suit due to maintenance problems apparently. This kind of actual combat stopped when Sino-US relationship entered the honeymoon period.
Aren’t the HAD 2 with Spikes (which France never used) and regular HAD enough?
What would the HAC even provide that your HADs and HAP don’t? AFAIK the HAC would just have been a UHT with Mistrals instead of Stingers, but without access to the PARS 3, so only HOTs.
I am 99.9% sure your comment said unique jet instead of aircraft when I replied to it
It’s not currently planned as the Tiger HAD Block 2 was introduced.
