Honestly, if they give us (in long time) the later variants of Rafale, and the ones in work, then the planes in work by multiple countries, i don’t think the F-35 gonna fill any gap. I would not call the lack of a total stealth plane a gap. This would just be a mimic in the game, not a whole new way of playing (specially if, once again, we have the same map size).

If you don’t use the F-35 correctly, it won’t matter and you’ll give a radar return which will get you shot down.
It’s a much more complex issue. One where you can’t just look at the Rafale and call it worse than the F-35. This was discussed in a Leclerc thread as well.
If you have an AWACS that detects the F-35 before it can detect you. It means absolutely nothing and the F-35 is at the disadvantage. It’s up to the operator to put the F-35 in a position where it won’t immediately get detected.
Gaijin’s current map sizes don’t lend themselves to give the F-35 any stealth advantages.

the thing is tho the F35 is currently the stealthiest aircraft in the world, if I remember correctly the radar return is that of a bird, so in terms of warthunder the Refale would be at a massive disadvantage especially if gaijin models it being even more stealthy when under a light load

Not saying they are the best planners or this is the best choice, but they might foresee an obvious gap coming.
Those might be better than early Gen 5 aircraft in other areas. NL (and Belgium?) operates the earliest F-35’s.
Others will. As soon as gen 5 comes any nation without one will have much of their player base call it unfair. Yes, yes, the Rafale is really stealthy but it’s not a full on Gen 5 no matter how you twist it…
Once it’s detected it doesn’t really matter. That radar return size of a bird is still identified as an F-35. All it does is reduce the chance of being detected in the first place.
Once again with the map size we currently have, F-35 gonna be spotted on probably every top tier radar from their spawn.
Stealth is cool and all, but on current map, only EC maps would make them usefull (from the little i know about EC maps, i don’t know their real size), not the brawling map we have now.

thats my point, if you cant pick them up on radar before you do, they can fire a ARH missile and turn cold before you even get a chance to fight back, a skilled F35 pilot vs a skilled Refale pilot will end with the F35 winning 9 out of 10 fights. Unless you have to put it under unfair conditions like most do irl where bvr isnt allowed and the F35 normally has to fly heavy with weapons on its wings
There are stealthier aircraft than the F-35, and the Rafale has a specific paint that reduces its RCS return. However I still think we are very far off from seeing stealth added to the game because it might be very difficult for Gajiin to implement it and it opens up the very real possibility of worse classified leaks than we have seen before.
