It is not. J-11 is the purchased ones from Russia, meanwhile J-11A have chinese avionics and systems, and are also upgraded to use R-77 or PL-10.

The J-11 is a license assembled Su-27SK. The J-11A is a fully license produced Su-27SK. The J-11B is a J-11A with Chinese upgrades.
J-11A is again domestic produced J-11 with the upgraded avionics that the J-11B took even further. But hey,i will take word of actual chinese person for this rather than yours. And what i was told is contrary to what you are saying.
