They are against new independent tech-trees
No they aren’t. They say they have no intension in stopping

Do I want to possibly one of the people that pioneers a new style of sub tech tree if the BeNeLux leak is real? Yeah, to be honest.
But it should still be handled carefully. Since my opinion is that the subtree system is flawed to begin with.
The tab is probably the cleanest solution unless you guys thought of something better.
After Canada, Poland and Czechoslovakia are the two nations that interest me. namely for their WW2 stuff as they are unique.
Tabs would be worse than horizontal scrolling.
Foldering more vehicles is a better solution.
3 rows per rank is a better solution.
No the other user that I had to pull out the quotes for not Gaijin.
How is it worse?
It’s a lot more room for the sub-tree while not making the main tree cramped or full.
I take this to mean no unnecessary tabs.
Scroll once on nation bar.
Scroll twice on air/ground/helo etc. bar.
I interpret this as minimizing ammount of tabs, though to be fair it isnt very clear.
Tabs like we already do with ground/heli research are what I’d feel the most straightforward solution. But they might have other plans as well.
I speculate that we might see a new system to organise sub trees pretty soon, but that’s just my gut feeling.
People would go against new trees fearing that its going to be made out of copy pastes. Which is rightful, as gaijin were critiqued and rightfully so when viewing the addition of subtrees especially Finland. Even Hungary gets a KF41 and WW2 designs while waiting for earlier indegenious aircrafts.
But the problem is, world military is just about copying the right design for the doctrine of themselves and making adjustments that adheres to their budget. K2 was a mixture of different western technologies, American designs, German gun and rounds, French and Israeli auxiliary devices etc. But it has proven its worth in Poland and Turkey. Just because gaijin gives out copies it doesnt mean that they only have copies. The choices to sideline indegenious designs were a problem of gaijin indeed, but this doesnt mean new nations are bad.
No, it’s not talking about tabs, it’s talking about scrolling horizontally in one tab, the same way you scroll vertically down the length of a tech tree (as opposed to in width).
So hes saying even if they could nake more than 5 lines, they wouldnt?
~just make them appear slightly smaller, dawg~
TBF I am not a fan of WW2 designs unless its minor nations, since Id look forward to areas that were not previously touched, and Id much prefer cold war. On that logic, I do prefer looking at Yugoslavia, and Brazil or LATAM as a whole. Czechoslovakia however was not entirely reliant on Soviet designs in the cold war however.
@AurenKarach
Cause you have to go to an entirely new page.
Imagine reading a book, and in order to read the next chapter, you have to open an entirely different book, then move back to the original book.
Utter garbage and I’d support abandoning the game with a negative review over that feature.
It’s clunky and not straight forward at all. Scrolling is more intuitive than tabs, and foldering vehicles is even more intuitive than both.
War Thunder needs less clunky features not more.
There’s a vehicle foldering system that already exists that is an obvious solution to the problem.
no its more like turning the page
No, that’s scrolling.
And foldering is footnotes.
Well, to be more precise, that that’s the reason why they can’t make more than five lines: to do so, they would have to inconvenience players with certain levels of monitor resolution by making them scroll horizontally as well as vertically.
And I agree with them, by the way. WT UI can be very daunting for a newbie, I spend a lot of time around new players and they miss things you or I might never think of, so anything that makes UI navigation better for people is a great move in my book.
It’s just silly to think it means a hard cap on the addition of sub trees, imho.
Like I’m fine with Gaijin adding copy and paste vehicle if at the same time they add same amount of unique vehicles. And i understand that the more modern you go the more copies it will be because guess what, unless you are massive country with enough money to spend, buying already existing vehicle is much cheaper then inventing and building one.
Like with Hungary air? Where are their pre-WW2/WW2 planes? Are they just going to add them one by one? Like 1 plane after 2-3 updates?
This round out to this point.
Unique isn’t a modern-day thing. (sure most nations have on our two domestic things still, for example: Canada and its LAV line)
But almost all unique stuff for WT is WW2 and the 50s/'60s.
It becomes even worse with sub-trees due to them not needed add other lines Gaijin can leave the unique stuff out.
compared to an independent tree that Gaijin is forced to add the unique stuff to Sub-trees where Gaijin has no reason too I’d take the independent trees (even if padded with C&P) any day.
You can already research planes and helicopters to put into your lineup, i don’t see how the same system for subtrees is so outlandish
I think it could be made to look nice and intuitive with flags to brand the tabs. But you may also be right, I’m not a game developer. So no matter what seems intuitive to me, I’m sure the solution they’ll come up with to circumvent that limitation will be more elegant.
However, I will say that,
Currently folders aren’t just a graphical tidy-up thing. They’re a research mechanic. While that might change of course, it’s something you have to take into account as well, because it’s an existing mechanic you’d be repurposing for something a little different.
