I voted no for the second because of how easy it is to screw up any stun mechanic. Just the mere thought on any penetrating hit stunning your whole tank for 2s is really unappealing gameplay to me.
It might benefit autoloaders, but even those are equally effective by this mechanic and chances are in situation where they benefit you, your reload would’ve allowed you a free second shot anyways. Not worth it in my opinion.
Also autocannons would get a huge buff, in particular the higher penning ones like the 2S38, Begleit and CV9040s.
Imagine playing tanks like the Ariete, Leclerc or Abrams (examples from the top of my head of tanks easily frontally penned by IFVs) and getting continuously frontally stunned by IFVs lmao.
It already modeled at challenger mk2/mk3 /ds.
The most damned and annoying thing. Whenever then hit the driver, the whole guidance system is knocked out with him
Yep, I feel like stun mechanics would throw off game balance while being more annoying than fun.
Though concussion effects would be nice if they were more of a visual thing, with only minor affect on gameplay like slightly less precise gun movement with a “stunned” gunner or so. It shouldn’t be noticeable enough to be annoying, but maybe make you “feel” the hit a bit more.
But they would also be at the receiving end of the change. Less chance of surviving weird shots because the crew tanked the spall from the HEAT or APFSDS.
I think my current issue right now with the damage model is really just the implementation of Spall liners. I find them to be very annoying and basically punish you for shooting anything other than the gun or mobility.
It’s already annoying on the T-90M but outright oppressive on the Leopard 2A7. In general my change would just be to lower the effectiveness of spall liners in general
