The photo contrast lock is extremely potent it seems, I could see it going to 10.7 maybe, unless they nerf that lock type. The G-load is also quite high

it could actually be 11.7 without any problem considering that its missiles track through terrain and space time
The Type-81C has all the features the Strela does at 11.0, except it’s even better.
its funny how I can’t remember the last time one of those killed me but for strela… people literally play it at top tier and get lots of kills. The missiles seem more like bugged than anything because they keep tracking through terrain and totally ignore flares, I manage to easily dodge pantsir missiles but not strelas…something is clearly wrong here
I’ve done some testing with the Strela with help from a friend, the normal flare resistance on the missile is perfect fine, Aim-9L/G equivalent even. The problem is the photo contrast lock, since it ignores flares and is barely effected by weather or terrain. And yeah, the G-load is quite… strange to say the least…
whats photo contrast even supposed to mean…its clearly modelled wrongfully like many other vehicles in game, but how come russian missiles are always wrong on the better side of things while US’ missiles are being buffed years after the been introduced in-game because of underperformance? When was the last time any other nation besides Russia/China got an overperforming missile or even vehicle?
they are playing with mechanics on purpose its not even debatable, for the same reasons that they wont fix certain stuff with full evidence given, or fix the economy/RP gains. Thats not where the money at
I don’t know much about it, but here’s what I think it is, (from what I’ve heard, so take with grain of salt, could be wrong)
It locks onto the outline/image of the aircraft and tracks that. Countermeasure ain’t gonna do nothing. Kinda the same thing as an agm-65 maverick seeker or maybe the optical tracker on the ADATS. And it ain’t just the soviets, the type-81C (Japan) is much worse than this thing. It has 35G limit, and much much more range… like Strela it only has 8 missiles though, and no guns. Also no search features
Edit; on release the Type-81C also had a 10.0 BR, but in one balance update it jumped all the way to fricking 11.0 lmfao. Surely the Strela will go up as well
Yk theres a difference between good vehicles played by not so many people and very OP vehicles played by many. There are usually around 4-5 strelas just around the map in 11.0+ matches, I literally can’t remember the last time any other thing than a pantsir or strela killed me and I regularly play as CAS. Same goes for T90s, BMP2, 2S8… maybe these aren’t so good put in 1v1 situations, but when they are so common that literally every russian main has a strela + T90 at 11.0+ its getting frustrating to fight against. (typical russian toxic lineup: BMP2M + 2S8 + strela/pantsir + T90M/BVM + SU25)
As you described strela’s missiles I can only conclude that it should clearly be put in a higher tier, but for some reason it will not…not any time soon

Sadly passed to devs doesn’t mean much, my MB-339A suggestion has passed to devs twice (on the old and new forums) and there is still not any sign of it coming…

Meh, perhaps with the lancer and J-7G to make up the top IR missile carriers as well.
It will likely be added as a premium like the F-20. I would be pleasantly shocked to see it in the tech tree.
