Sadly Gaijin preferred to make up their own variant taking the basic F-16A Block 10 that the F-16J (not AJ) was, and added the inner underwing Sparrow hardpoints and name from the F-16AJ stating it would be “more realistic had it been adopted”.
That means they essentially admitted it’s made up, even if you ignore that the prototype the AJ was based on was used to develop the ADF, making that more appropriate for what Gaijin wanted to do.
But hey if you can convince gaijin to change their mind im all for it. They made this problem themselves and players hate sweden for it idc cause i didnt ask for the 2p i asked for the finish vehicles to be represented in their tt.
As much as i want to see the Netherlands come to the game, i would still prefer it to be with Belgium and the 2 vehicles from Luxembourg.
Since, if the Netherlands were to go to France, we won’t see their ships and subs coming to the game (The chances are really low).
Same goes for the Belgium Navy.
That’s why im hoping for a Benelux subtree and not just a Dutch one, but it would seem that a standalone tree isn’t in the works if the rumors are true
I’m not sure in the future new lightweight fighter aircraft after F-16AJ for japan tech tree gajin could add F-2A Early (JASDF) or F-16A Block 15 OCU from RTAF
Last I check it was because they couldn’t get the gear door hardpoints to work (imo just model them even if they don’t work). But hey, Gaijin likes a) using PR words, and B) the phrase “rules for thee, but not for me”
From what I remember they could, but decided it wasn’t worth the effort. However the F-16AJ is also supposed to be different form the one in game in other ways.
It is depicted as the airframe of the (second I think) YF-16A prototype, which is visually distinct from the F-16A
Said prototype was also displayed in the brochure featuring Sparrows mounted on not only the hardpoints seen in game, but also wingtips and other underwing hardpoints
The brochure mentioned the capability for TV guided bombs, likely GBU-8
So the weaponry is limited and the visual model inaccurate, even ignoring the feature Gaijin didn’t want to add.
