The only advantage these new missiles (depending on the variants added ofc) will have over current SARH missiles would be the fire and forget capability. R-27ERs retain a significant advantage over something like the AIM-120A/B in all other regards.
In fact, due to how short range early Fox-3s were, nothing will really change in top tier ARB aside from people spamming even more missiles. Think Tomcat Phoenix spam but every plane doing it.
R-27ERs will still reign supreme at altitude, forcing everyone lower. The seekers on these early Fox-3s also won’t be hard to defeat either… there’s a good chance people will stick with strong alternatives like IR missiles or 27ERs due to their reliability.
ARB needs a rework for other reasons.

I really enjoy those matches, it’s perfect for top tier. I wish they made this the go to instead of the skirmish sized maps that just promote IR IRCCM missile spam.
The only times I’ve had true BVR combat were on those maps, and they were some of the most interesting and engaging fights I’ve had at top tier.

It’s the only game mode where Phoenixes are able to really shine but even then a 27ER launched at the same time, speed and altitude will beat it.
One can dream, but Gaijin are pretty happy with the short and quick match times.

The higher the number the easier it is to notch

Why not play sim?
It’s my favourite mode. Haven’t tried to play top tier there jet though. Unlocked the Gripen already and the F-15 today, will try both out this week in sim.
RB is still the best place to grind imo but i play RB so I can play sim.
Because CAS shouldn’t be allowed to freely dominate the game with impunity? The Strela is an example of what SPAA should be.
Now if only they didn’t spend every update nerfing(or breaking) everyone’s SPAA to the ground but Russia’s.
I mean besides the Strela and Pantsir, they suffer just as much, and they don’t have the option of loading 120mm pen belts to melt ground vehicles in leu of being bad SPAA.
Because I shouldn’t have to cripple the amount of fun I have to play a good map.
You don’t need that much pen when you have four 30mm guns that, with how many shots you’re putting down range, will always manage to find somewhere to get through.
What good does 120mm pen do? You aren’t penning MBT’s from the front, and in any other case anything from a 50 cal and up will pen no problems.
I don’t get it but take it sim is not your thing?
Cockpit view is way too restrictive, and anything other than mouse aim feels too clunky to me.

Youre massively downplaying the advantage of fire and forget, and no r27ers would not be supreme, top fier maps aint big enough for max range of early aim120 to be an issue
