We had 9L(i) not 9M as Ms were export restricted
Edit i was wrong i guess
12.7 even
12.7 was added after the Gripen was released.
it shows that the aircraft were way more capable then their initial br
Semantics really
If they’re going to add Tornados with AMRAAMs they can slot them at the same BR Gripen C is right now and just move the Gripen C up with Fox 3s which will be the same BR as Sweden’s Gripen C.
Personally, I don’t see the issue here or concern.
I mean the F-15J has AIM-9Ms but Japan never used them so anything is possible lol. As long as it is compatible, they’ll do whatever they want. Unless the Gripen C between UK and Sweden is different, there’s no reason to exclude one or the other.
SAAF gripen had only ever used IRIS-T and nothing else
Tornado F3 had some compatibility issue with Aim-9M due to the modified (De-Chirped) rails. They kept breaking the Aim–9Ms, so they swapped to Aim-9Li until ASRAAM iirc.
Tornado Gr1 was cleared for Aim-9M (recent find by Flame) but I think exclusively used Aim-9L or Aim-9Li because of the same mods to the rails.
Sea harrier FA2 used Aim-9M as did the Gr7/9. (Royal navy had a lot less issue than the RAF)
again not necesarily, i am repeating myself here, it depends how strong a br factor the fox 3 missles are, specialy tornados could get a higher br because they carry more missles with fox 3 being a lot stronger
Dogfighter vs BVR Truck. it depends on if AMRAAM are good enough to justify an aircraft that can barely fight in WVR at 11.3 will survive even 30 seconds at 12.7. Especially as many would have ARH. So its not exactly an assymetrical fight
But could it mount an AIM-120 like the Sweden one? That’s the question. Since I just said the F-15J never used AIM-9M in service, but it could so it’s here (even though unnecessary as we have the AAM-3).
True, that remains to be seen. We can reasonably assume Fox 3s will be up BR’ed when possible just for the sake of downtiered planes fighting them.
Probably they are slightly different to the Swedish one but it should be able to
just finaly understand, it is not a 100% thing that UK grippen gets fox 3 missles, that is not necearily the case, do you finaly understand it?. We are trying since more then half an hour to just explain that to you
Yeah, as I said, I think its 50/50. There is a good argument for both it getting them and it not getting them.
Just because Swedish Gripen C is probably getting them doesnt guarantee the British one is. It could be kept on par with the Gripen A.
Britain does have 2 other options for AMRAAM. and then there is always something like the CF-18 if absolutely needed. But it might be entirely mute initially, if they only add AMRAAM to Gen 3++ like the Harriers and Phantoms.

11.3 planes since the F16c had to suffer doubt gajin will have a change of heart
Nah the only reason it got locked last time is because we smelt something was off very off
Also, the AMRAAM-capable CF-18 is one of the unique versions(the first one in fact).
The C&P CF-18 would be identical to an early F-18A.
CF-18 IMP Phase one.
This is the first time it was able to use AMRAAM with the AIM-120.

Well let me backup. Nothing is guaranteed until we see it on the live server. Even stuff in dev can be withheld after all.

That being said, I think there’s a good chance than not, I’d say like 80/20 in favor of UK Gripen getting them. Of course, there is no guarantee. But, I think the likelier outcome is placing other aircraft at 12.0/12.3, possibly with Fox 3s, and just have the Gripen C in parity with the Swedish one at whatever BR that ends up at.
I suppose we shall find out soon TM as devblogs should start rolling out maybe next week or the week after.
And is still too powerful.
We don’t even have AARHs yet let alone the BRs for F-15C MSIP II and Typhoon.
We probably will by June though.
