There is no historical reason for German air being gimped. It is purely so that Germany doesn’t overshadow Russia.
As for French ground, “what isn’t gimped?” is a better question.

I think that’s a really funny example too, as I saw people saying “if we do get the F-15, it’s gonna be an F-15C, and if we do get the Su-27, it’s either gonna have gimped loadouts, or the F-15 will get AMRAAMs to compensate”
We got an F-15A MSIP II vs Su-27 with non-gimped loadouts, and no AMRAAMs. Also the AMX was added, which made a lot of Italian players happy (justifiably so, I’m glad they got it).
I think people were also doubting the Super Mirage 4000 as well, since only 1 was built as a prototype.
Edit: we also got AAM-3s, which I think most people hadn’t even considered as a possibility for 2023 lol

I find it justified since they are export jets; Germany did not design them, so it only makes sense for them not to get the full package asap. But all that is behind us now I think.

My person in chrylser, the person I responded to was talking about how a lot of people had specific expectations for what we’d see this past update, and how a lot of those were wrong. I mentioned the expectations I had seen my own self, from other people in the WT community.
I’m perfectly happy with the F-15As, and non-gimped Su-27. I’m even more happy that Italy got the AMX (genuinely been wanting to see that thing in-game for years), and am also glad Japan both got a new meta plane, but one with a unique donestic missile. The Mirage 4000 was an unexpected yet extremely pleasant surprise.
I’m glad AMRAAMs got delayed a bit as well, so Gaijin could work more on them, and figure things out more.
This update was literally excitement after excitement for me, not just because I got to see stuff I wanted added in, but because a lot of other people got the vehicle or aircraft they’ve been wanting for years. I jump around into different custons, so often seeing lobbies of Eagles, Flankers, Mirage 4000s, and Gripens all doing formations, stunts, 1v1 dogfights, or even just tomfooling about. The most noticeable aspect is that they’re having FUN, and enjoying themselves. I see others that are happy, and I am happy.

I still think the FM could use a fine-tooth comb, and instructor is better, but super-maneuverable planes are going to need some sort of toggleable feature to keep people from dumping speed on accident, but easily toggleable enough that you can if you’re going for a first turn kill attempt.
F-15 vs Su-27 is proving that it’s even harder than before to maintain situational awareness, and even harder to evade radar missiles once in the furball. FOX-3’s would’ve made things even worse I believe.
I’ve noticed there’s less British mains constraining the rules of physics to try to conjure up from the void what the next British top tier plane will be that isn’t the EFT or the BAE testbed thing.

Not sure about Su-27 for Japan. US had a Ukrainian Su-27, but it was de-milled and didn’t have a radar so I guess?
If South Korea becomes a nation in the US or Japan tree they could basically pick up an Su-27SK (same as early J-11).
I mean like we don’t know if the Yak-141 prototype ever equipped IRST and HMD? Wouldn’t be the first time Gaijin did something similar.
