can someone explain me what is brimstone and what makes it so good? im genuinely curious

But the main thing is quantity. Aircraft like the Tornado Gr4 and Harrier Gr9 can carry up to 18 and the Typhoon FGR4 can carry 12. (they mount via triple launchers)

They also use a radar seeker (kinda like the Longbow Hellfire) So they can track targets through smoke.

They are also Fire and forget, able to operate without guidance from the launch aircraft

They can also find their own targets. So pre-programmed with a target(s) and fired off, and they’ll go and find it

They can also identify weakspots on a vehicle for maximum damage

Brimstone 1 has a range of 20km
Brimstone 2 has a range of about 75km

If/when we get them. Im imagining they’ll be the Dual Mode Brimstones (which have a semi-active laser) and will operate essentially like AGM-65Ds. Lock onto a target with something like a T-Pod and fire. They’ll then go and hit that target. with things like normal smoke not really being effective in defeating them

Just the main thing to balance will be the 12-18 per aircraft and firing them off at 20km. Could wipe out the entire enemy team in a single sortie.

Though I really want them for SB. I want them to start adding A2G weapons for other gamemodes and if they are too strong for GRB, just disable them for that gamemode. Kinda annoying Aircraft being handicapped because of tanks

No need to worry about the firing range, the ground targets rendering distance in the game is 12-16km, which means u r in most of SPAA‘s shot range, and the Brimstones’ flying speed at the end of range is very slow, same as AGM65D, which is easy for SPAA to find a barrier to hid themselves

Yep, though Id hope the main aircraft that can carry them will include Gen 3 Optics and hopefully with them, they might finally increase the render distance, so maybe we’ll have the full 20km

(assuming render distance even matter with their LOAL & find their own target thing, if that is modeled)

But yeah, though shear quantity means you can at least surpress the enemy team. Fire off 5 or 6 and pull away, they either need to defend or risk being hit and then you can come in at another angle and do it again.

1-2 Tornado Gr4s could disable an entire enemy team, even without getting a single kill (and lets face it, they’ll get plenty of kills)

(especially if you pair 12 Brimstones with 4x ALARM to further surpress SPAA)

I’m woundering if the new event vehicle will be Chinese, as it will coincidence with the Chinese new year, and we haven’t gotten a store announcement yet

That would be logical, they also didnt get an event vehicle in either of the last events right?

Unless Gaijin update the top tier SPAA, (like Tor-m2 or FK2000? I am not familiar with NATO’s SPAA system), this range will be limited in 16km.

I really doubt that Tornado could do that, at least during my F16C experience, when I killed 2-3 targets, there would be at least 1 fighter who wanted to have revenge kill. And I am pretty sure that Tornado can’t win any of the dogfights in the top tier.

Till now, all of the FF missiles are not good, they will lock on the dead body, or the ground, and sometimes is just a hit( AGM65 daily) , so disabling an entire enemy team is pretty hard

If Gaijin really wanna balance, the best way is to limit the amounts, just like A7D with only 4 AGM65 a few years ago.

Well… It depends if it gets ASRAAM or not, could carry 2.

But ultimately, yeah I reckon there is more fear than actual threat with them, though even just 1/4 strength they’ll be good and I would love them for Air Sim.

But yeah, hardpoint limits would be reasonably easy. triple mounts but could be limited to 2 hardpoints on the Harrier Gr9A very easily for 6x Brimstone. Tornado Gr4 I feel it should get its full belly load of 12 (unless T-Pod was a hard requirement, then 9)

Britian does have a truck that fires ASRAAM, though I think that range is still like 17-20 km. But far greater than anything else we’ve got
