According to sources of 2 month ago the AW249 is supposed to be handed over to italy at the start of 2028. So there you go, gotta wait another year until possible implementation
And they are correct indeed, i know how Leonardo works and i’ve talked to a few of the mechanics that came together the AW249 at the Eurosatory26 not long ago (we both speak italian :), the heli will be in service, but you are correct in stating the vehicle is at the very final stages before serial production
The only thing i’d point out like Pier said is that it doesn’t matter anymore if thet add it next update or next year as the finalized configuration was already given, hope it can clear out a bit of confusion
Spike er2 will likely be added and remove the range problem compared to other nations.
Together with MITL the lack of DLRCCM wont be as bad either, so A129 will be fine
Ofc, I can wait, but we have seen that gaijin can make exceptions like the Challenger 3 (A really big one) if a nation needs it. Italy now is the last nation that can get a LDIRCM heli but doesnt have it yet. its an addition that will bring italy closer to a good top tier lineup.
Correct, the final phase of testing features enviromental tests like this, if and i truly mean if it will be added on pylons or elsewhere it is something new that neither I nor anybody else will know anyway until further evidence or direct service pictures
