we probably shouldnt, but if everyone else gets leos britain should to (id be happier with an aussie m1a1 but i guess were getting an arjun instead)

I mean it makes sense lmao it’s a German leopard with a kit done by Germany since Canada had a huge rush for newer tanks in Afghanistan so they were given German stock

problem is theres no “solving the issue” unless they removed the other subtree leopards but thats a terrible idea so yk what do you do. as a brit main i would take ANY subtree tank that isnt the arjun

By itself, it wouldn’t have been to bad.
But the commonwealth comments, and the ADATS filled Canadian’s with false hope that they could see the start of a top-tier line-up.
The actions of German mains only soured the addition, and the CF-188 being another $100 CAD preiuim that couldn’t be used in a line-up with it made me hate it.
As for the Leo 2A6M CAN, Germany has its own 2A6M with German MGs over Canadian ones, so it has no need, well, it can join the CF-188 and Canadian ADATS (and LAVs as domestic stuff to commonwealth nations go to the UK(plus Australia and New Zealand also used it)
Also interestingly enough, according to the people in the CAF, I can talk to Canadian Leo’s are usually modified in Canada.

Actually a large fleet gets all its modernization and upgrades within Germany next to German and other nations leopards there’s no Canadian factory for that

We borrowed straight-up German 2A6Ms, but the 2A6M CANs, iirc, were modified from Dutch tanks.
(I might be mixing up the 2A4M CAN, but at least one model was ex-Dutch, and I know that at least one of the Canadian TT suggestions I’ve seen had a 2A6NL, tho my own look into it seemed we didn’t get any 2A6 until after they were modified to 2A6M standard.)
