The side of the tree is just where the Greek line would inevitably be placed. In terms of BR/Rank filling, that’s the main reason a Subtree is needed. Without Greece a Rank I-III for Air would be far less viable.
Just take a look at Rank I and you’ll see how completely unviable it is without any Greek vehicles. The main selling of point of Greece for me is that is has so many potential Rank I-II vehicles to solve this issue, while the later tank vehicles are fewer and enough to fill a single line at times so it also doesn’t impede upon the potential Israeli lines, making it an ideal pairing for the Israeli tree as it’s such a perfect fit in that regard.
Sadly it doesn’t really solve the BR gap between 6.0-7.7, unless they add the T-33 which may fall within that range, but it definitely solves everything else, including Top Tier 4+ gen AESA with the addition on F-16C/D Block 72 VIPERs and their Rafale EG/DG. Great stopgaps until the F-35I arrives, and maybe we’ll see a Greek F-35 someday as well (standalone or as a skin, we’ll see)

it would be a More Multirole capable ICE too because it retained the Standard F4E’s ability to carry Smart ordenance

I don’t het why people are still beint hyped for sub-tt’s, the only unique sub-tt is South-Africa. The rest was just added in the sloppiest way possible, like Finland, BeNeLux, Malaysia, etc…

It’s your main tree anyways I am just a sub tree hater. But for ranks IV to VIII, I don’t see a huge gap impossible to fill with Israeli vehicles.
Pulling a Desert Warrior is fine but not whole lines.
Malaysia at least got unique variants, even if it wasn’t a full line.
Something like Hungary air (on release) or Thai ground would probably sit higher on the bad subtree implementation list.
Or even India, where the “subtree” is still just all premiums with only two (non-unique) SAMs in the techtree.
They are really good at finding creative ways to mess up subtrees…
