Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

xd they already have aim-120d. What theyre transitioning to now is Meteor

If the US ever gets their butts in gear

yea i aint staying with edge, the ass ai just gave me 5 sources saying that they’re stepping away from there c5 into the aim120d and then proceeded to give me info abt the aim120a

It would be easier if you just searched for acquisition/sales reports rather than just blindly asking “does x have y”

We may still have C5s in stock that they’ll probably use in training, but defo got Ds. I just dont know if they are Ds or D3s

i was, yet bc of how ass bing is it kept giving me the most mundane useless info and not giving me what i was searching for

Ah, theres the problem

Took me 1 query:

As @Morvran said, unclear if its AIM-120D or AIM-120D-3.

its most likely d3 as netherlands and japan have just been given the green light for the purchase of several aim120ds for around 807 million

xd this was in 2018, unlikely.

Probably the standard AIM-120D. I’ll have to look around for any post-2018 purchases because if there is, then it’s highly likely its AIM-120D-3.

Though I think we are getting them

UK listed in $18.8m US AMRAAM contract expansion. Maybe within the next few months, depending on… current situations

april last year

Work is expected to be completed by May 31, 2026.

So I assume deliveries would be sometime this year for

“This contract involves Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to Canada, Taiwan, Sweden, Czech Republic, Korea, Kuwait, Japan, Finland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Belgium, Australia, Turkey, Spain, and Lithuania.”

depending on current situations

speaking of japan and amraams, how come the f15J only has aim120As and not any b or c variants

It has AAM-4

Which are better than A/Bs (A/Bs are identical) and better than C5s in anything but range, All the 13.7 F-15s though dont get C5s though. Just limited in that you can only equip a max of 4 of them

AAM-4 can be buffed and there are later variants.

oh, fair enough didnt know AAM-4 were that good

The US wont use the meteor, they are making there own long range missiles such as the AIM 260 and aim120 AXE.

this is taken in Edwards AFB on an american F35A, chances are they’ll use them

Not the issue. The US broke the deal of letting Britain intergrate its own weapons on the F-35 by giving us access to the code or something, so we have to wait for the US to handle the intergration of the Meteor on the platform first. Was meant to be done by 2020. Theyve only just done flight tests

No, its purely the intergration for UK and co F-35s that the US has forced being done by the US only. The US rarely if ever actually buys foriegn weapons and related equipment, even if they are better. US recently Purchased Britecloud from the UK and that was quite rare
