not a fighter so the name is clear enough. couldve had YF-24 and YF-25 for JSF and then 26 and 27 for NGAD
Eh idk I’m not that familiar with the US letter schemes
they lost it after the F-22 and YF-23, skipped straight to 35 and now 47
but 47 is such a nice number, which the generals picked themself

The Attacker designations skipped the A-11, A-13, A-15, A-17 and then jumped from the (F/)A-18 to the A-29 and A-37 after that
The bombers went from B-1 and B-2 straight to B-21
The Fighter designations skipped the F-13 and F-19. They also kinda cheated by giving their Aggressor Squad Kfirs the F-21 designation.

they gave the proposed Indian block 70’s the name F-21
they skipped 13 because unlucky number, and 19 because they didnt want it to be associated with the MiG-19 iirc
