Im a brit bong and even i know the f15 is the most iconic? But that could just be because i was born in the 2000. Using the word iconic will mean very different things depending on when you were born so its kind of a mute point? Most iconic plane (not jet or prop or anythign specific) for me would be the spit as ive had one flying over my head most of my life.
Best thing to hear is a spit flying over during a game and getting ptsd as you look for the cas lol.

You know why the F-35 tested it? Because Britain needed US approval to actually use them on it
Brits claim stuff like F/A-18 which they have no ties to, at least with F-15’s I ask for they are all US planes and most were in the hands of USAF at some point
