never heard of them doing it. I mean, in assymetric combat you usually simulate what known enemy aircraft would do, afaik the Soviets had nothing similar in performance to harrier (YaK-38 much worse iirc)

I won’t became I’m a prop kinda guy though if another nation that has a platform like the F-5 FCU with it’s P-4’s then I will grind my way up to that.
It’s not necessarily about that though,
Like for example Sea Harrier FA2s use to have a lot of battles against Tornado F3s not because they were planning to fight the Italians anytime soon but because the 2 aircraft were radically different and so it requires fighting differently than just always doing Shar vs Shar. It was also not uncommon though for them to simulate the weapons they would be fighting against however.
Though I think if there is one thing that can be learnt from the Falklands, never train against the predicted opponents. Mirages, Daggers and A-4s were rather unexpected opponents for both the RAF and RN. Though a program of trianing against and with the French and Spanish and I think other European nations became quite common
As for air in general in other nations, I have most nations at the early jet age.
idk what a dagger is but dont A-4, Mirage have similar performance to MiG-21 that they for sure would be training against in that they bleed speed a lot?

Btw if you run the Hurricane 2x 40mm and the A13 with an event tank and use it in battle, you can milk the events that why since you can get a ton of assist from the Hurricane

oh ok. even then, SHar had much better AAM and generally newer than whatever the Argentines could throw at them. its not a bad jet by any means, but in true air superiority against 4th gen fighters of the time it wouldnt do to great
Really? I tried the 40mm hurricane and didn’t really like it.
The main thing is to not fixate on one target and waste your ammo as even damaging the machine gun or fuel tank will count. Though I mainly come from the side and try to hit the engines.
interesting. usually i do air events so i just bring a jet i like to ARB (will probably be F-14 for the next air event that i like)
They were operating Aim-9Gs vs the Magic Is the Argentines had but rapidly swapped them out for Aim-9Ls.
It literally beat the F-15 in 2v2 combat at a ratio of 3:1 and the F-5E in 1v1 combat at a ratio of 7:1
and yes, its radar wasnt good in look down, because it was never designed for that. Which is why we got the FA2
in close range dogfight. yes it was good but thats why they do training no? i mean surely you arent saying it should be the same BR or higher than F-15 because of its a2a capability
Nope. F-15 was simulating Aim-7 shots.
No, game limitations prevent that and the Harriers are underperforming greatly, but just because the F-15 might be capable, doesnt mean its undefeatable
like I said SHar is a good plane. F-15 is not undefeatable in excercises but the SHar only wins in performance at low altitude and low speed.
as for the flanker being a POS IRL that this stemmed from, i think we agree on that
F-14D beat F15s and F16s it has similar climb to F15E with load
