Honestly no clue. Could be all AI, to respawns etc. It would prob be up to devs/ beta testing as to whats most engaging.
But if conceptually you’d want to fit in weapon teams/ squads into the game, it seems to work quite well ( by mostly utilizing aircraft ordinance mechanic for squad management)
Imo it’s better to have a TT with multiple even slightly different variants than half-empty TT. Although such planes are better to be placed in folders, when it’s possible.
For example:
【F-104S → F-104S.ASA]
→
F-104S.ASA-M
→
F-16ADF
While we have such variants, respective planes shouldn’t be limited in any way, like ASA-M receives its AIM-9L/I-1, which would be its key feature compared to other F-104S. (F-16ADF gets its AIM-120B instead of AIM-7M it didn’t use in Italian service).
I think it’s much better to have something new to grind each update in your favorite TT than having nothing, even if it’s just a slightly different variant (even if it’s at the same BR like RET.8 Tornado for example) or in my case I’m happy even with copypaste.
Indeed if the do another WW1 event it needs balance looked at.
But if this successful even makes them look at added WW1 to the trees they have the BR system to work with(hopefully it come with the required BR rework/new BRs. But that’s unlikely) and the fact there is more then the small handful of vehicles that could be used.
i want ww1 planes as i know ace thunder is coming out and its supposed to compete with DCS or something which i feel it will loose (like how they introduced naval lost to wow) so when it does i hope we get triplanes and stuff as they be fun to dogfighting in as they can turn on a dime like fokker DR.1 triplane and some can hang on there prop like helicopter like fokker DVII so basiclly they be moving like su30 through the sky
Aside from the fact that the event was far more balanced then people give it credit for, A7V was nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be, and I say that as someone who played mostly Entente, giving WW1 and the early interwar period its own tier would greatly expand the roster of vehicles and allow them to be rated be BR. At worst, it would be no different in terms of balancing then the current tiers we have in game.
And if you find that balancing bad, that is another issue entirely, one that isn’t fair to pin on a hypothetical WW1 tier.
I agree that the aircraft ordinance mechanic could work quite well, and yeah it makes sense with devs deciding what to try for infantry.
personally i’d like FPS infantry with 1-4 respawns. Basically you can spawn from that infantry squad up to 4 times, but you have to pay the “repair” and rearm cost for each death, and once you die 4 times using that squad, you can’t use it anymore.
Also I personally would like more role specific squads instead of just “generic does it all squad”, like a dedicated AT squad line (comparable to Tank Destroyers), recon squad line (comparable to light tanks), Assault Squad (Heavy Tanks), so on and so forth, you get the point.
well what I was kinda thinking when I said that was more along the lines of a squad more dedicated to assaulting enemy infantry positions, kinda like what heavy tanks are supposed to do.
Like they get LMG’s and GL’s versus other squads with regular rifles and/or their specialized equipment, for example a recon squad would get DMR’s and snipers for specialized equipment, an AT squad would get standard rifles and AT weapons (AT grenades to rocket launchers, depending on the era and squad equipment), stuff like that.
Now that I think about it more, comparing the “assault squad” to heavy tanks is in fact not a good comparison (although they could maybe get heavier armor too as a researchable, like add-on armor) but that still doesn’t really do much… hmmmm. Well I don’t have more time to think on this because I’m supposed to be asleep lol
