How about adding the weaker variant, but not alongside more powerful, but equally powerful options for others.
Yes, adding a weaker aircraft in the same update is just a straight downgrade, but that’s not the point, the weaker aircraft would’ve been there sooner. Essentially all nations should have roughly equal aircraft if they are available, and only skipped if there is nothing to fill such a role.
The better variants should still come alongside their equivalents.
Not sure what they specifically could’ve done for Sweden here, but I’m sure there’s someone with more knowledge of the various Nordic nations air forces that knows more, or can at least confirm this is the best they could do for now.
That isn’t because it’s not the best Finnish F-18, it’s because Sweden was already lagging behind in the top tier department with the Gripen showing its age notably, only to be rewarded with an objectively worse version of another nations vehicle at the same BR. Context matters.
Italy and Britain would have been fine (and the Typhoon barely adds anything over what they already had. But Germany had no choice and there was only one fair thing to do
I am still confused with Gaijin’s logic on not adding the MLU for the Finnish F/A-18. There reasoning cause they adding it later is weird. Unless the reason is because they want to give it advanced ordnance that they don’t want to add this update maybe?
Eurofighter and Rafale users got an early variant of their plane when it was adecuate; both good enough of a counterpart to the latest Russian and American additions, but timed well enough for them not to come too early;
Before that, they got equivalent aircraft via subtree additions in order not to fall behind despite their lack of local options.
What are suggesting should have been done instead?
You think earlier Eurofighter and Rafale variants should have been added sooner? You think Top Tier Air RB would have been a better place if we had had slightly worse Eurofighters and Rafales zooming around Top Tier against F-16Cs and MiG-29 SMTs?
I’m more amazed that someone created such a concept and actually thinks that the concept is good for a game that would have to compete against Battlefield
I mean, they aren’t happy with their Eurofighters CAS capabilities anyways, so giving them a T1 Block 5 probably would have produced the same outcome lol
I am speaking in terms of gameplay-wise addition. They are clearly meant to be transitional planes to the future IRIS-T / Meteor slingers that will come alongside 5th gen fighters, hence the artificially limited loadouts, etc.
You seem to think it would have been great to see this come before the ones we already got. So I wonder, what exactly makes these variants so much worse that they would have been perfectly balanced against F-16Cs and MiG-29SMTs?
And in any case, I don’t even get what all this rambling is about. That “Gaijin did not do (X) in the past”? So what? We are well past that already. We got Rafales, we got Eurofighters, what’s all of this even about anymore!?
