I agree. But there’s always been a sort of “double-standard” when it comes to this. They model very “specific” vehicles, and I think its a way to scapegoat out of things. They are able to say “Well this is based of THIS very specific real life example.” instead of saying “We aren’t adding that because…”
Example: Vilkas
Instead of giving is the historically accurate bigger engine, that those variant did use, they modeled it off a very specific Vilkas specifically using the weaker engine.

As the Tornado ASSTA1 got the LJDAMs it unlikely the ASSTA3 will ever be added because its psuedo been added via the ASSTA1. Whilst its only 1 weapon system change at the moment, does that mean the other modifications should also come to the ASSTA1? Like IRRCM missiles?
Its the same for the Jaguar GR1A getting the GR1B mod. Does that mean the GR1A should get the Bs digital RWR?

It is still fundementally an identical aircraft with the only change being the AAMs.
It absolutely should mean it gets all the said upgrades. But like you’ve said, instead of giving an ASSTA3.0/3.1, we got an LJDAM upgrade.

When the only change is loadout, then I do think foldering should have been the default

In the Mig-29s case, the upgrades were more than just loadout changes, with upgrades like the engines as well.
If the Viggen or Tornado had added anything more than just different loadout options, then they shouldnt have been foldered,
Given the F3 Late came alongside the SHar as well, it really should have been foldered upon release and defo should have been foldered in the last 2 major updates since.

I agree there’s times where vehicles should be foldered, but there’s also times when they shouldn’t be. The Su-27SM shouldn’t be foldered under the 27 just because it’s just a better radar and missiles
the Tornado is a better example of “vehicle that SHOULD be foldered”

honestly they really could have foldered the su27sm with the normal su27 and foldered the mig29s as well but they didn’t because grind and money.
