They really wouldn’t in most aspects, the only exception being rank 5+ air where Japan struggles to fill more than 1/5th of the tree. In this specific aspect it is needed to “outnumber” Japan, as otherwise the tree will not end up equal to other nations (assuming potential France as role model, there is no chance to ever catch up with US/USSR especially with them having rumored subtree plans as well).
Also keep in mind that many pure C&P vehicles will be excluded and many vehicles overlap and are used by multiple countries. These nations individually also don’t have a selection of vehicles as extensive as other subtrees such as India or South Africa, and Japan has less options to begin with compared to Britain.
Hopefully not, full ASEAN simply does not work as a subtree. As an independent tree it might, but then Japan could get no subtree at all, which might not be healthy game balance.
I am hoping for a split in ASEAN, where only the founding nations would be added to the Japanese tree, which is only half of the ASEAN nations. Then there would also still be ASEAN nations to be added to the Chinese tree, where a subtree would also still be nice to see.
South Korea is not an ASEAN nation. According to a past leak it is planned to be a subtree for the USA, while North Korea would become a Chinese subtree.
I fully agree with a Chinese subtree. While I would like to see ASEAN founding nations to be a subtree for Japan, I am also hoping for a subtree for China including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, North Korea and Pakistan.
In my opinion both nations deserve to get a subtree.

India is not, it is already a Commonwealth country (don’t ask me where the rest went, I don’t know, ask sim), but Benelux is an undoubted failure. As for the Swedish subtree, perhaps it would be more appropriate for us to call Sweden a “Nordic” faction:
Yes, Japan in particular desperately needs to supplement CAS. As for Singapore, this is just to satisfy my lazy self-interest. People who hate to see this “delusion” don’t rush to attack me, because we can’t control what happens

But besides that. 0, and I mean absolutely 0, proof has been given in the past the South Korea would actually go to Japan at any time.
I don’t think so, it was also part of that one leak but overlooked a bit more with ASEAN and the economy nerf getting most of the attention. It was part of “high probability”
I don’t think it would be a 6th line, more likely it might add vehicles throughout the existing lines of the tree.

South Korea to Japan would probably make the forums burn as much, if not more than ASEAN for China.
because they always model more than actually added to have the options available if they change their mind later

iran and russia had very very bad relations in the past two centuries, its only about the past 30 years that the current unpopular government of iran has good relations with them
i think iran would never be a sub tree of any nation, not on its own tree too… only some vehicles on nations like f-14A that correctly went the to usa
