Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

Mig29k has a better twr, better radar and a better rwr. Mig29k even supposedly uses stealth coatings that reduce its rcs by about 5x. Su33 against a mig29k isn’t much of a fight.

Wrapping your head around all the tranche’s / block’s is confusing enough.

Then when the individual countries are throwing additional naming & number designations on top of that… Yeah, i’m not even going to try to understand all these different variants lmao.

I’m glad this community has smart people to spoon feed it to me.

Easy way to remember it for the UK imo is

T.1 (Tranche 1 Trainer)
F.2 (Tranche 1 Fighter)
T.3 (Tranche 2/3 Trainer)
FGR.4 (Tranche 2/3 Fighter)

Theres then the typhoons upgrades to carry meteor and others through Project centurion which brings them up to about tranche 4 standard

There’s no chance i’ll remember it, but at least i’ll have this comment to refer back to lol.

Its not easy to rember, most of the time people just go by armament

So T.1/F.2 is pure A2A plus Paveways

And T.3/FGR.4 is multirole so brimstones, Storm Shadows etc

Ain’t no way a MiG-29K or MiG-35 losing a dogfight to an Su-33 either. LMAO

Just F.2. Not FGR.2 it doesn’t have any A/G weapons.

Doesn’t it say F Mk.2 instead of F.2?

That is what F.2 means in RAF designating.

and the 9M, at top tier feels like a wasted shot. Jets just have so much thrust and power now they can defeat missiles easilly.
The lack of high offsite bore capability makes the 9M difficult to use at top tier.

No, what?

You use your flight performance to give the missile a good launch. We really do not need 50+ g IR a2a missiles any time in the next few years.

30g is fine and tvc missiles are held back by bad IRCCM and spiralling, which works well to keep them balanced.

Which I believe to be due to the lack of Bank To Turn

Not once did I advocate for next generation IR missiles. Are we nearing their inclusion? Absolutely.
The point remains IR missiles (the none HOB) have limited use at top tier.
They are too easy to flare, they bleed energy fast and the Aim9M doesnt pull enough G for close range HMD missile shots, and it doesnt have a strong enough motor for the 4km shots.

no no no, it’s not what makes the 9M bad

it’s what makes the R-73 good

My apologies, I did not mean to imply you advocated for them. I simply take any opportunity to advocate against them because that Pandora’s Box will really do terrible things to the game.

I really don’t know what to say. AIM-9M is one of the best.

😐It is not

AIM-9M are quite strong, you just need to use them in the right scenario (longer ranges side aspect on more distracted targets) their strength is that random flare pops will not avoid them even at longer ranges

It is, but not in top tier air battles.
The jets performance and gameplay with ARHM has made it dare I say weak.

AIM-9M is still the most potent AAM in game imo nothing comes close (not even AAM-3 it in game doesnt even pull harder)

can’t talk for the M but I much prefer the R-73 on my MiG-29G over the 9Li on thr phantom

and I take the phantom more often
