Kh-38MT has drastically different zoom levels compared to the IIR maverick, the 38MT’s are mote akin to a TGP in terms of zoom levels.
I believe it’s around 6-24x zoom vs 2.5-5x zoom on the Mav D/G

Which you know because I included that intentionally.
The important bit is, for some reason Gaijin has missile cameras using different contrast to any Thermal Targeting Pod. Much harder to pick out targets than even a bad pod like TIALD.
It is sad that the F-2A is not on board while 4.5 generation fighters such as Eurofighter and Rafale have been leaked.

my guy he is at the same range as when you used TIALD and it is a far clearer image, this is just cope at this point lmao

I have not but reversing your thermals for the second image would help. I have died to Kh-38T so many times recently. Since the update.
As for the thermals I can only go on gameplay footage from others

6:30 in we see the thermals are pretty good for the missile (which once again I would question as other Russian missiles and drones using thermals are never this crisp and clear IRL). Seems strange why they would upgrade these missile thermals to gen 3
I doubt J10B though, we can’t even work out what radar it has RN lol.
Another BMD that’s not in the regular tech tree……… After 4 we get another one and it’s a premium

Most of the stuff that would be in the december update has already been in the works for litterally months though.

Not something the player can control. That was the winter test drive map, both taken on Gr 7. Missile camera just has the contrast like that. You can see in the video you linked that the Kh-38MT camera doesn’t have such strong contrast as any thermal pod, which is what I’m talking about.
Even a gen 1 thermal pod would make MiG-29SMT, Su-27SM and Su-34 into way better multiroles. They would still have atrocious flight performance, but it would be easier to pick out targets.
In any case, all current multiroles will pale in comparison to any Eurofighter that has even a gen 1 thermal pod and some terrible LGB and AGM.

Couldnt the german variant be a Tranche 1 Block 10 with some limited CAS ability?
The devs have started to standardize thermals again, especially with the last (current) update. They only now look at the technological generation, not the resolution (this is likely because finding sources on resolution can not be found usually, and the overal simplification of thermals in game to begin with).
So I guess they found sources that say the thermal generation is 3 on the Kh-38MT or something, hence it gets 1200x800 resolution in game even though it may be much lower irl.
