EMBT isn’t a tank that needs counterparts; EMBT IS the counterpart, to all the Strv 122s and Leopard 2A7s. And it wouldn’t even be so OP- basically, a Leopard 2A7V hull with Leclerc AZUR turret.
-Sweden has already got 3x Strv 122s, and they can get Strv 123 and even Leopard 2A7NO and Leopard 2A7DK. But believe me- at this moment, Sweden is the last nation to need even more and even better MBTs.
-Japan… all they need is for the Type 10s to be fixed (should accelerate even significantly faster than Type 90, get rid of the cheek armor holes and fix their steering) and they will remain on the top of the food chain.
-China, same story; have all their MBTs fixed like ZTZ-99A and give them all their missing spall liners.
-Britain? Pre-production Challenger 3 (as shown in early 2024) and production Challenger 3, with a second production Challenger 3 with add-on armor packages presented; all with full spall liners, blowout panels and significantly improved armor.
-And Italy…? Well, they are destined to be irrelevant. They almost made a contract for Leopard 2A8, but apparently, they backed away.
So yeah, fantasy tanks for France and Germany, semi fantasy tanks for Britain, literally nothing for Italy, Japan and China, but still new tech for Russia and the US, doesn’t sound good, but if you think that would improve the situation, then I hope you get what you wish for
What would they base the stats of these tanks on btw? Just give them all the same rounds, armor and reloads?
Sweden is officially out of Leo 2s. The only ones left are the Strv 122C/D which add no improvement which would matter in War Thunder, and stuff like single vehicle demonstrators for a different CITV (like the PLSS) etc. The Strv 123 will come in the future, but IIRC the first production model of those is set to arrive in 2026.
Danish and Norweigan vehicles when???
top tier is what gaijin want you to have in mind and will always be the “focus”, the grind is long and frustrating to get there and something something typical free to play strategy
I mean, Chally 3 is a frankenstein tank… the TD if memory serves has worse Turret Armour than the CR2s… which is daft considering half the point of CR3 is to increase protection (hence Farnham and Epsom arrays)
If you’re talking about future additions, a production CR3 could be doable soonish, given we know a fair bit about the Production tank, although I personally don’t want it.
We could also get a CR2 130mm, but that’s debatable (mostly because the Germans are convinced that because Rheinmetall got mentioned that suddenly the fact it’s a CR2 hull becomes irrelevant, and so Britain’s claim is null and void) - again, I’m reluctant to ask for it because half of me suspects Gaijin would gimp it, considering we know little to nothing about the 130 that was fitted.
We could do back of a fag packet maths but… again, I’m reluctant. Last time we did that was with L27A1 (we don’t know the penetrator length and/or mass iirc) and so Gaijin had to make some assumptions, that based on what we do know from trial documents, are almost certainly wrong.
You either manage to kill them before they kill you, or the second the first of their shells actually hits you, you’re as good as dead.
If you have good aim, generally the first salvo from the enemy will miss, if you can start shooting first, often you can either knock out a turret or barbette and reduce their RPM so you will then equalise.
That said, if you run into an Atlanta, there really is nothing you can do, hell even the Moffett at 5.3 gives you a very strong run for your money in the 8" ships.
I mean the hull is fairly straightforward, though apparently the British Government and whoever was running the QRH Twitter Feed couldn’t make their minds up on what power was being provided. I think at most we could expect to see 1350hp, but in practice will probably see 1200, see HoC Questions.
Really the turret is what bothers me.
Based on previous doctrine (which can be surmised as “slap a nice big gun and as much effective armour as humanly possible in the turret”) we should have higher levels of protection in the Turret. iirc we should have Spall Liners, and LWS and APS are apparently going to be standard on the CR3.
Thus far, the CR3 turret has been worse than the CR2
I don’t mean to demonstrate complete incompetence… but I lost a duel to an Impetuoso while bows in.
I genuinely dunno what I was supposed to do, his first salvo knocked out one of my bow turrets and the stern turret, and the second or third took out the other bow turret. By Salvo 5 I was practically unarmed.
Screw Moffetts, I get the Daring out for those, and hope they’re stupid enough to sail into my Torps, or I gun them down while they’re distracted. It seems very unfair, their 5in SAP seems to evaporate my ships in 3 salvos, whereas a Daring takes at least double that in well aimed salvoes. And I cannot say I’m a decent shot, or a good naval player either.
And you can bet your arse that it will be worse ingame too (watch it not even get a damage model that actually matches the 3D model, just like the C3TD lmao)
It’s not as if the CR3 has anything good to offer over the CR2… you lose armour, gain no mobility, and gain a somewhat better gun. In my opinion the Gun becomes irrelevant, in British tanks, unless you’ve got some sort of protection. Our doctrine doesn’t worry lots about mobility (though it must be said, we do care about it, just Gaijin still hasn’t implemented Regen Steering, or made an allowance for it…)
I’d recommend going broadside then, reduces his ability to take out all your turrets. I would probably reduce the br’s of many of the British cruisers though, the 6" and also HMS Tiger can stay where they are, all the other turreted ones i’d downtier by 0.3.
Just seems like a faster way to get your crew knocked out by going broadside. Hence why I didn’t do it. My belief was “oh he won’t get accurate salvoes on me instantly!”- oh boy was I wrong.
Worst bit is the salvoes I got on him did nothing. It wasn’t as if I missed, I hit, they just didn’t do anything.
There is only two zoom modes, min and max. Until Gaijin implements variable zoom or more steps, then you really really don’t want stupid high magnification
