TLDR yes *some * of the Luftwaffe Eurofighters retain the IRST, its a situation of Germany retains the capability to mount them but choses not to because money

That’s a 98 + 08 which is an IPA 7 trial aircraft, pre-Tranche 1.

I think you missed the part where I said “Germany retains the capability to mount the IRST, but chose not due to do funding issues” There are German Eurofighters with IRST mounted, just not all of them.

i mean a lot of weapon integration work is done at the WTD61. having at least 1 airframe around that has IRST is good, cuz other allies use them so the software package CAN be prepared for them too
