Honestly this is probably only done to manage their reaction to the Japanese subtree which is planned in the future

Again, I have said multiple times, the current consensus was to give Japan a VT4. This then allows players who does not know how bad the Chinese top tiers get a feeling when they are compared to actually decent tanks like the type 10. There are way too much praise on reddit and other forums, thinking it is better than T-80BVM. The “rework” was limited and did not affect the WZ and VT4 as well.
In actual gameplay, it is inferior to pretty much any tank, except for the bottom 3: CR2, C1 and MK4M, and even those has some attributes. Except the CR2 that is beyond salvage. Most players were deceived into thinking the tanks are good for WT because they have superior handling - both in gun and mobility, not only to Russian tanks, but also to quite a lot of western designs. But this cannot mitigate the fact that it has subpar firepower(second/third worst in top tier), and much questionable surviability.
This is of course they think it is a T-72 ripoff which is obviously infuriating.

Idk I dont play naval but without sub trees china would barely have any ww2 ships.
There is only one F-16C in the US tree currently. F-16CJ Block 50 already was the dedicated Wild Weasel jet for the USAF. F-16CM Block 50 are the same jets but upgraded during CCIP. Should get four HARM as per TO 1F-16CM-1-2. Technically can also get AGM-45 Shrike seeing as we already have the legacy AIM-7 Sparrow on her.

AGM-88 HARM was basic kit for German Tornados. Tornado IDS MFG (Marinefliegergeschwader) should also get it.

China really only became a top notch navy in the 90s and becoming top 3 in the 2010s, but this does not mean that war thunder should wait for that long.

That’s the issue with that interview, and that’s why BVVD said that they’re thinking about China naval. Gaijin probably doesn’t have a clear answer yet for what Rank VI bluewater naval would look like for nations without any WW2 ships/battleships. It’s also why we haven’t seen Sweden yet (though they’re in a lot better shape than China as they actually did have a relatively modern fleet in WW2, just no true battleships).
At this point, there aren’t really any sub-nations that could be added to China to give them access to WW2 naval vessels. So Chinese Navy can’t be added with the game as it is. It’ll probably come once Naval has reached the cold war period for all nations, and once Gaijin is actively adding missile ships every update.

Is there some nationalist conflict going on between china and japan mains that I am missing?
Japan really only needs a subtree for their air branch, for ground a subtree would only serve variety rather than actual support

Barranikov did indeed say they(gaijin) are much troubled by this fact that, the Chongqing - an Arethusa was the biggest ship to enter service at the time. Unfortunatly, it was sunk by the nationalists after its defection.
The current consensus was to introduce coastals first, where China was known relatively famous for - gunboats, sub-chasers, mine-sweepers etc.

From what I’ve heard it’s a small but vocal minority, most are just players that care about nothing but being treated fairly like any other.

If Gaijin led with Coastal for China, they’d probably be able to put together a solid lineup.
But a naval tree that only has coastal in today’s Naval meta is going to be suffering lol

The RTA subtree was passed for consideration around October 2023, which was before the introduction of the VT4 in air superiority update. It was generally agreed that the VT4 would be superior to the ZTZ99A. This would inevitably cause outrage, imagine Germany receiving a pantsir(KMW chassis lol) before USSR.
The current forum and other discussion platforms hit a big 180 after air superiority dropped, people were given a huge disappointment when the VT4 was half-baked and was probably the worst MBT in the entire game for a week before emergency fixes placed them alongside, not worse than the bottom 4. This then turned the opinion around, and people began to actually lobby for a VT4 in the Japanese tech tree, to show non-China mains(not only Chinese players) how bad the tank is and how ill-portrayed it was.

Quite some people who are vocal for China fixes and buffs in China did not realize the forum is not blocked by the firewall, and gaijin only re-opened one official channel in bilibili around kings of battle update.
And then there comes the much ironic nature that some Chinese players who wants China to be fictionally nerfed and kept on suffering. There are one classified leak just for it. So the matter complicates even more.

Italy naval be like, what is bluewater? Seriously, Italy top tier coastal is great, but it is just slept on badly because a majority of its bluewater is ass.
Passed =/= implemented was not well receptioned at the time. The communication only got better when gaijin reactivated its official channel. Side note: the localization team is doing a marvellous job.
The line of thought is that people will be able to compare two tanks in the same game, one being the VT4, the other being the type 10 - an actually decent tank. I unironically agrees with this, because the VT4 and WZ are statistically bad, but there are too much praises from reddit and the forum, thinking it is a T-72 ripoff(seriously?) which has a reverse speed.

I have not seen a single post praising the VT4 on this forum, I don’t look much at reddit, but I don’t remember ever seeing any on there either, so I really don’t know what you are talking about
