Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1) (Part 1)

There are no known surviving pictures of it, and even the construction of a single prototype is debated.
May i ask what kind of info?

Somewhere before next major

F-15E RMP does not change enough to warrant an addition, it’s more sensible to jump to the F-15EX especially since Russia has the Su-30SM2 already. The U.S. tree does NOT need another 14.3, it desperately needs a 14.7 aircraft.

F/A-18E Block 3 changes absolutely nothing over the Block 2 in-game for War Thunder gameplay purposes.

It was already said that there isn’t any purpose to an F/A-18F in the U.S. tree when players asked for it following the addition of the Australian one. These could come in the far future as novelty aircraft.

The U.S. does not operate the F-16 Block 70/72, this is why the PoBIT was added this major. Same thing with Germany not getting the KF41. It’s a German tank sure, but not operated by Germany and only sold to export customers.

EA-18G would require a completely new game mechanic and is not a traditional top tier aircraft. It’s not the same.

I would really hope to see some modern naval too!

F-15E RMP is a bit redundant since the F-15EX fills the need of a F-15C/D successor and retains the F-15E’s strike capability (and then some).

F/A-18E/F Block 3… I honestly believe Gaijin could add the Block 3 as an F variant so USA has both 1 and 2 seater Super Hornets… also the super hornets (USA, at least) ingame are iirc Block 2

Another F-16 that’s basically the same as the PoBIT barring the engine probably won’t go anywhere, unless it’s a special vehicle (like event or squadron; similar to F-14 IRIAF) in the future.

What the U.S. tree really needs right now is a 14.7 jet and the F-15EX is the only candidate that can fulfill that role. F-15E RMP would be yet another 14.3 in the sea of U.S. 14.3’s. (F-15CGE sidegrade since it has less missiles but superior acceleration)

Technically the under BR’d F-15C GE is 14.7 worthy but no one is ready for that truth

May I ask, Is there plans to move War Thunder into the App Store for Mac users at the end of the year too? Because Rosetta 2 is discontinued, if not next year, all Mac users will be extinct.

I wrote that only to mention that there are still more 4.5 gens that can be added besides F-15EX

F-15E RMP would be added to F-15E line while F-15EX would be to F-15C line, while it is true that it does not have a huge upgrade over F-15E (besides radar and avionic), it could just be added to fill rank 9

That’s why I said maybe. Considering US got stingray there are a very smallll chance it could get block 70 as well

It’s gaijin we are talking about, they would add the block 3 just to give it AIM-174B and not give 174B to block 2

Besides this, I think gaijin would fill rank 9 so that 5th gen could be added to rank 10

It would be so nice if we could test drive every single vehicle in-game

Ah my bad. Yeah there are definitely some options on the table still for future additions. Just that F-15EX is the only real major one while the rest are minor upgrades and such. (Other than the EA-18G, which is completely unique)

Alright for the other 6 naval players what nation do we think is most likely to get a naval tree added?

  • China
  • Sweden
  • Israel

True, Besides F-15EX other additions won’t be that good in current meta, probably F-18E as well depending on how good will 174B be

I don’t think it would be added at all, Very small chance gaijin will do that, even if added it would either be squadron or event like you said

sometimes I forget Israel has a navy lol

Honestly all 3 have really interesting ships but they’re mostly modern and/or coastal sized.

All shall be added.

Not really, at least Sweden has a lot especially given all the Nordic countries aside from Finland made coastal Battleships and (and now we include Finland) plenty of smaller vessels. Sweden just happened to expand their naval force far more from the cold war up.

I can’t remember which Nordic nation had a battleship

This assumes gameplay will remain stale (ie, ARB TDM-style matches), which, if the Nuclear Thunder event was any indication, this is just not true.

Sure, in the mean time while devs are currently working towards it and other modes (like Infantry), the possibility of different scenarios coming to Air Battles is high. Maybe not immediately, but give it 1-2 years and we could see more.

For example, you mentioned the EA-18G. In normal games it wouldn’t really be useful outside of just annoying the enemy team early game and even then it’ll have nothing to do unless you forego its jamming pods and decide to use it like a normal Hornet with just a tad more defense against radar missiles. There needs to be specific game modes or playlist or whatever term you want to use where using dedicated jamming aircraft like the EA-18G, J-16D, etc., is not only viable but also fun to play.

An air-launched SM-6 will be ok. It won’t be terrible, probably on par with F-90 performance (or better, if you look at graph and/or individual missile stats).

Of course, it doesn’t help that we know next to nothing of it except its estimated performance from a standstill (and even then, it doesn’t translate to the AIM-174B as it loses the first booster which gets it up to speed from said standstill).

are non-naval players allowed to vote?
