They don’t have to be mutually exclusive. People modeling vehicles won’t suddenly help fixing bugs because there are no new vehicles being implemented.
Hell doesn’t Gaijin outsource the modeling?

I still have hopes that it’ll start on the 1st, this friday. I think it’s plausable. If they start on the 1st, 7th would be trailer, 8th dev stream and server leaving up to the 15th for 1st dev server and then release on the 18th or 21st, with the event starting on the 22nd

They wouldnt have to model top tier vehicles, they could model more vehicles to fill the gaps in all the tech trees. It has also been stated that bug fixing personnel and modelling personnel are separate.
The release may happen between 19th and 21st (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Those are most common patchdays)
But yeah, you’re pretty much on point with teaser on 7th, dev stream on 8th and later that day dev server opening for few days
