Rolls Royce was part of the group that bid the F-35 for the JSF program, and were responsible for propulsion. LMT itself entered into a limited partnership, for peanuts, as was the going price for anything Soviet in the early nineties, and made off with an unknown amount of knowledge gleamed from Yakolev’s first proper supersonic VTOL.
Label it however you like. There would be no F-35 the way it is today without the Yak-141.

As someone who has been in the dark about F-15 since I’ve been locked eyes with the F-2/XF-2, I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks and performs. I’d just be happy it’s something Japan used as opposed to the AJ. Assuming we of course get it and it’s not just an F-15A for US, maybe Israel only.
Speaking of which, since devblogs have started, @Smin1080p is it still too soon to ask if Japan mains should expect anything for top tier, especially aircraft for this update? Just want to set my expectations appropriately for the coming days.

The F136 engine has been discontinued, and I understand it is still under development. For Tempest program. In principle, it is possible to order the F-35 with it, but there was not much interest in it.
