I would say regarding VT-4 a few things:
- Gaijin can do whatever the heck they want, and they do not constrain themselves with the same rules and logic we use to try to understand what they do.
- Gaijin adds tanks to different trees to balance out the “gameplay experience”, for the sake of gameplay, as we all have learned from the Bhishma incident.
- Given the fact that China doesn’t deploy the MBT-2000, yet has it in the TT, and that Gaijin has announced one of the lines of the tree would become an export/tech-tree line, there is some rational expectation that VT-4 would be added down the road.
Could Thailand deploy the VT-4 in their tech tree too? Sure. Doesn’t mean China can’t, or anyone really. Gaijin reserves the right to do whatever they want.

VT5 is just a whole different tank tho. (And the VT5 is the export oriented modification of the Type 15 to begin with).
