They’re similar. The AMX-10 doesn’t use Akeron, or might be possible but even if, it shouldn’t.

The Mig-29s should not be confused, because it says they were ordered in 1987, while the MiGs were ordered in 1988, and the source mentions the MiG-29 only once in 1989.
It would also make some sense, since around this time East Germany began testing/planning the introduction of more modern Soviet weapons, such as the Tor-M1, 2S6 and T-72B
