In terms of range, acceleration, and speed, yes, however being able to completely disengage is a massive advantage that should not be underestimated.

It was mentioned when they reduced the RP costs of all rank 6-7 aircraft, they said that was originaly something they wanted to do, together with the ground RP reduction once ground rank 8 releases

That’s one of the reasons that that’s my favourite map for top tier. Being able to easily counter radar missiles by just dropping behind a mountain is great.
