This sounds like more of a situation where they wanted to add an Israeli top tier (as in Israeli-operated) and didn’t really have much of a choice. Do we know if the F-15IA would have any actual changes compared to the F-15EX irl?

Its a weird thing. Its sort of like the F-16AJ situation, where Japan needed a 4th gen before the F-2.

Difference between the F-16AJ and the F-15IA is that we do atleast know some stuff about what the AJ would have been. Everything currently known about the IA is all speculation and guesses.
