New update: Instantaneous range finding and more fluff in the UI

I saw this in the update notes* but didn’t partake of the test and didn’t realise it would be such a massive difference.

I’m thinking this is Gaijin’s attempt to “freshen up” naval??

Also the hit/miss icons are interesting, but the UI is getting a lot more crowded and I don’t think I need them - does anyone know if there’s a way to remove them??

there is none I think, both changes are pretty uneccesserary and are probably only to make the mode less skill based and therefore available to more people. Which it won’t be but it will worsen the gameplay for others.

At least I thought I had sen it, but it isn’t there now so perhaps not… maybe it is a bug???

I wondered that as well. I also noticed if you are working on a firing solution on one ship and switch to another at the last second (or any time really) you get a firing solution on the new ship. It feels weird.

  • Icons with hit results have been added to naval battles. To better assess the results of your own shooting, when hitting an enemy, a set of icons is displayed showing the result of each shell: hit, effective hit (if modules or crew were damaged), non-penetration, and through-penetration of the ship. These icons have a counter for each event, making it easier to assess the results of shooting during continuous shelling. In the near future, an option will be added to the menu that allows you to configure a set of icons or disable them completely.

Really hope it’s a bug… i don’t see how a WWI ship could acquire a firing solution as fast as an earlier ship equipped with radar systems.

Nope it is not, every ranging speed got buffed at least 5 times and it is in the changelog

this change is horrible - nobody asked for it, On trying to get a few more naval players GJ offend all experienced players which are able to hit w/o the aiming assist. In addition the more ore less “real-time” target indicator causes that bluewater ships much more target coastal boats then before. Prevously it was not attractive to target a boat quite far away as the indicator maybe no longer valid. Nowadays you got a very quick bearing where to shoot at. I observed on playing coastals that I was much more targetted by destroyers or even cruisers. And the SKR-7/1 is now more op than ever!
So I vote for reverse this change asap.

If anything skr and other modern vessels got nerfed by this update since everybody else rangefinds few seconds faster and modern rangefinders got buffed by maybe a half a second, which makes no actual difference. But I agree this change should be reversed asap as again, it nullifies the skill advantage.

maybe I didn’t express correctly, I meant that SKR is also buffed by the instant target solution, especially as mostly the SKR are heading for the coastal spawn where they can do a massacre on the mtb. And now even before they arrive they got the real-time-indicator .

It definitely is, but it’s now also much easier to target coastal ships with blue water ships than it was. Before this change, you had to carefully consider whether you wanted to switch your target to a coastal, because you knew it would take a while to reacquire your previous target. Now it’s trivial.

I still don’t like this change. Before I could get the jump on players who needed to wait for a targeting solution. Now that skill is useless.

It already had instant target solution but now everybody has one too.
