Since Gaijin likes money and people like SPAAs here’s an idea for four premium SPAAs
-
MIM-46 Mauler 1960s SPA nine missiles radar guidance with IR tested but never implemented built on a M113 chassis it’s tracked making it slower but great at crossing rough terrain canceled because it was too good for it’s time for it’s BR 9.7 for arcade and 10.3 for realistic and simulator
-
Osa-A the original version of the legendary Osa could be a 9.7 premium in arcade and 10.3 in realistic and simulator the Osa-A is a earlier version of the well-known Osa-AKM making it a good starter premium for the Osa vehicles
-
IRIS-T SLS short range version of the IRIS-T SL family exclusive to IR but still incredibly lethal when used correctly BR placement should be 10.7 arcade and 11.3 realistic and simulator simply because of the IRIS-T
-
SLAMRAAM a system made by the U.S. Army to be a complex but simple SPAA system originally tested with the AIM-120C-5 and possibly the 9X unconfirmed because we only have Raytheon’s word it was built on two separate chassis a HMMWV the same one as the USMC adaptation of the SLAMRAAM CLAWS as well as a FMTV which was proposed as a more built-in system compared to the HMMWV it’s BR has to be 12.0 simply because of the missiles
New SPAA Systems Update: “Skyfire Protocol”
SPAA/SAM Additions:
• USA: MIM-46 Mauler (Premium), MIM-72G, Avenger (with FIM-92C), SLAMRAAM HMMWV and FMTV (Premium)
• USSR/Russia: Osa-A (Premium), Pantsir-S (tech tree or squadron)
• Germany: Gepard 1A2 (tech tree), Wiesel Ozelot upgrade, IRIS-T SLS (Premium)
• China: HQ-7 (export Crotale variant), Type 95 SPAAA
• France: Roland II, or maybe the crazy AMX-30R variant
• Italy/Japan/Israel: Rarer exports or multinationals like the SIDAM or Barak-M derivatives
Germany/Italy: Tornado ECR
Add in some new voice lines, radar search sounds, or even player-controlled radar search modes and jamming… chefs kiss.
SEAD Comes to War Thunder
Tired of driving into SAM deathzones blind? Enter dedicated SEAD aircraft:
Aircraft Role Countermeasures F-4G “Wild Weasel V” Radar-hunter AGM-88 HARM, ECM pods, RWR EF-111A Raven Jamming platform Full-spectrum ECM, decoys EA-18G Growler Multirole SEAD/EW HARM, jamming, stand-off ELINT F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Carrier-based SEAD AGM-88, sensors, flare/chaff
Mechanically, players could:
• Detect radar emissions via RWR and HUD symbology
• Launch ARMs (Anti-Radiation Missiles) against SPAAs with active tracking
• Use ECM pods to interfere with radar lock-on
• Create team-oriented suppression by temporarily blinding enemy SPAA radars
Strategic Shift
Introducing SEAD/ECM would fundamentally change how top-tier maps are played:
• Mixed battles could become more like layered chess games, with radar “zones of denial” and SEAD players poking holes through them
• Ground vehicles would rely more on radar discipline and coordination with friendly SAM cover
• Air battles would have cat-and-mouse elements between SEAD jets and SPAA teams
Notes: something I want them to correct with this update CLAWS added in the Leviathans update never actually had the AIM-120 or AIM-9X but the FIM-92 it was proposed to have the AIM-120 and AIM-9X but never officially had them even though in the game it does and Gaijin where is the harm in allowing us to test any vehicle even if we don’t have it researched? Players have been asking for it it’s not hard to code and it would allow players more freedom while improving quality of life
