New to 10.0 +

Recently unlocked the Challenger Mk2 and purchased the Challenger DS to go along with it. Had a pretty good time with the chieftains but now it seems every game is over in a matter of seconds. Especially on these awful corridor maps like Seversk-13 where every game is against 11.3-11.7 and the team/spawn gets rushed and cut down in the first 3 minutes. Is this a common experience? Feel like Im banging me head against the wall most matches where I might get a few kills before dying to a far superior tank and getting spawn camped at close range for the rest of the match.

Issue to me feels partly map design where more modern vehicles with good speed are able to rush through maps that feel designed around 1950s tech at best, and partly severe compression where tech from the early 80s is up against stuff that hasn’t even left the prototype stage IRL. Maybe the Challengers are just bad but it is all such a shame.

Unfortunately, yes.

11.7 has a large number of people playing it due to everyone playing the premiums located at 11.7 which means that all those below get sucked up into those matches.

Personally with Britain. Ive had quite a bit of success with a 10.3 lineup. Does unfrotuantely mean you wont be using the Chally DS, but the uptiers feel far less frequent.

That being said. L26 is just about good enough at a pinch, but would be really nice if the gap between 10.7 and 11.7 was increased by 0.3

Map design does suck and compression is pretty extreme as you get too top tier

The Challenger 1s are actually decently competitive. They have some very old issues like their ready rack is way too small (reported 2 years ago) but otherwise very solid. L23A1 is an okay shell for the BR, but L26 is actually very decent and the tanks overall are a reasonable balance of protection, firepower and mobility.

The overall line-up is also fairly decent, with good CAS (both fixed wing and rotor), Good SPAA and a passable IFV.

That being said… 10.7 is basically where our ground tree ends. At this moment in time. We have no top tier vehicles wrothy of being at top tier.

Thanks for your response,
Wish there were more vehicles around the 9.0-10.0 bracket for a BAOR lineup. Unfortunately I’m not very interested in all the prototypes but that’s just my own fault. Chieftain Mk. 11 would be nice and maybe even a Challenger Mk 1 to pad out a lineup.

Shame to hear this is the current state of the game. Have at least enjoyed CAS in the S.2B after the horrendous air RB stock grind it must endure.

Yeah, the big hope from this year for Britain ground is:

  • decent top tier SPAA.in the form of the Sky Sabre
  • decent IFV for 10.3/11.0 in the form of the Ajax, Boxer or late Warrior variant
  • Usable top tier MBT such as the Challenger 3(P) or a challenger 2 overhaul

But yeah, something like the Challenger Mk1 or Jordanian Challenger 1 Falcon would be really interesting event vehicles to get at some point

A restructuring of the helicopter tree would be nice as well. Really demotivating to touch them having to grind through the Scout, Wasp and Wessex without any meaningful upgrades between them.

As morvran said, 11.3/11.7 is where the new generation of premiums are located so lot of times you get full uptiers.

You also need to remember that thermals are now norm, not exception - so you gotta accept the mindset that if you are not behind cover, you can and will be eventually spoted and fired at, and adjust your playstyle accordingly.

With challys, youre unfortunately slightly slower than others at your BR and definetively slower than 11.3/11.7s, so you might struggle to reach proper positions before everyone else.

If you spawn with enough teammates going your way, be agressive and push; avoid traversing areas with long lines of sight unless absolutely neccesary and flank, flank, flank.

If you spawn alone or just with few guys, find a hulldown position with good long line of sight, keep your tank below horizon and scan the area with binos. Once you spot target, peek and fire.
