This thing has no business being at 5.0, when you get up tier and you get lot of them your cannon cant do shit, specially against USSR for example is1 in immune to you you can pen in point blank if you hit like 3 pixels in their copula, even from side they are okey, im not talking about tigers and panthers jumbos etc.
At 4,7 would be okey, 4.3 is the best br imho
look at German premium 5.0 kv1 is has comparable armor but has the German 75mm with 140mm pen instead of russian 76 with like 93mm
It seems gaijin didnt even bother testing it because it has the buggiest turret armor in the game.
Idk how a ww2 tank can bounce a 105 dart or have 1.8 meters of steel armor but gaijin knows better for sure.
i can simulate it with Churchill(was the first i remembered) if i used that metod of meassuring armor you can take 30mm thick plate and make it 10meters long and you have 10000mm of armor :D
I interpret this Finnish KV-1 m1942 as a hull upgrade of the Soviet KV-1 ZiS-5 at 4.7, with very few other changes. However, the Finnish modifications to the KV-1 hull were quite limited, merely adding 6mm of steel plate, and yet, it has a 0.3 BR increase, which is rather absurd.
You mean the fact you’re aiming for the turret side armor which is indeed 1.8 meters thick…
Not a bug, you’re literally just aiming at the thickest part.
Alright, alright, I confess I missed that bit in the dev blog. Gaijin claims it’s a turret-beefed-up variant, and the hull is just a bit smoother for show, no extra armor there.
But honestly, I’m struggling to spot the difference in that turret myself…I’m starting to wonder if Gaijin just tweaked a number for his turret armor and called it a day.
KV-1 should be at least 4.7, 4.3 at the best, because you face stuff that can one shot you and from spookstons vid about it it couldnt pen an is-1’s turret or side using apcr
90mm of armor versus 105mm on the turret, it’s pretty much the only difference between the two and since the m1942 has cast armor, it’s actually slightly lower.
There also isn’t a flat frontal weak spot on the turret cheeks like on the Soviet one.
@mamitotales
Volumetric isn’t the thing causing the armor, it’s just the side armor.
This is common knowledge.
Keep defending bad mechanics and insulting good mechanics, all you do is prove WT players correct.
You also can’t hide behind claiming your post is sarcastic.
You are right that it is indeed that thick since it is the entire turret side.
However, that negatively influences volumetric, since if a shell were to clip that tiny part, it wouldn’t penetrate the tank. Volumetric is good, but it has some massive flaws that make it worse than it could be.
