Yeah, but still. SPAA being reactive creates an opportunity for CAS to engage without any SPAA initially active. If there was value to an SPAA at other times then there would be an SPAA ready. Maybe these new multi vehicle SPAAs should get an optional IFV they can swap too as well
Holy poor sources batman.
Add in for SLAMRAAM
Improving the Surface Launched Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (SLAMRAAM) System
Subject Area Aviation EWS 2006
in the game they don’t, in real life however, it becomes a different story.
what?
Thank god it is declassified.
I think they should play a game of top-tier america, germany or another nato nation, and realise the mistakes they have made.
not just the swedish SPAA im talking about though… But I understand your point
All the sources in your post are literally 3rd party sources that’s barely reliable
Fun fact about the current state of the SLM. The TorM1 missile is heavier than an SLM missile but faster.
Oh and the SLM missile is also slower than a stinger…
That doesn’t really say a lot though. You could have a slower burning but longer lasting booster vs fast burning and more powerful
A properly implemented SAM (not the pos excuses we have now) would be able to immediately launch on the Su and then take out every one of his Kh 38s by interception. If he doesn’t immediately defend then he will be taken out and his Kh38s are gone because he didn’t prioritize taking out the SAM strategically first.
This is exactly what a Pantsir is capable of doing right now and what other CAS pilots have to do to fight it.
As it is now though, nothing will change.
Thing is, we have been able to find very few sources due to the systems being so new and currently being in use. We have found sufficient sources in some bug reports but then they get denied for other reasons.
All this is moot though as Gaijin didn’t have sources to implement the spaa’s in their current state. In fact, everything available points to drastically better performance than what we currently have. The spaa should not have been implemented this weak in the first place.
And the people in the proper IRIS-T SLM thread actually did a good job in finding appropriate sources though. A lot of bug reports got accepted and has yet to be implemented
Unlike OP though, who has really poor sources used. Global-security, wikipedia, and army-recognition alone is already a red flag
I have been exclusively active on that thread for the past week.
You ignored my statement though that we shouldn’t have to fight tooth and nail to get a system properly implemented in the first place.
All sources and even common sense points to the IRIS-T SLM performing drastically better than it is currently, so why did Gaijin implement it in this broken and honestly sad state in the first place?
Because initial builds will always be bad and corrected slowly? That’s basically development 101 and I doubt it is any different in a video game.
Funny enough i think the Type 81 kai is the better of the new sams simply because of a few things
Its already a proven platform in the game, missiles are good and have about similar range to the other new sams (in their current nerfed state) and actually faster then the majority
The new mad dog feature is really good for nice sneaky shots and honestly just really good in general
I can see type 81 kai players just turning radar off and only using it for when you really cant see someone thats how good mad dog was on dev server.
It wont die if you take out the radar vehicle
And with 2 spawns plus still the older type 81 its not bad.
That being said no clue why the others were nerfed so hard.
I just want to say, many things could be done, nothing is being done. I agree that the idea of balance is not strong in gaijin’s head, however there are ways to fix it, such as: Airfield spawns that are 30+ kms away from the battle (giving SPAA players the ability to see planes before planes can diddle them. Or just create a way to balance top tier planes and SPAA…
which it isnt powerful and isnt very fast rn, so theres that
Bruh… Kh38 with their gps can launch from >30km away now. Ofc theres is still no other comparable missile (hammer takes A LOT of time to get there)
