Current Dev: Effective range: 10-12km, from that point on its tumbling through the sky sub mach 1 without any chance to even reach a fraction of the advertised 40km effective combat range.

Effective range for what? There a big difference between effective range for hitting a 747 and an f15e.
Things like the aim120b will say 60km range, but you aren’t hitting anyone with these outside of 20km in most cases, and it really depends on the plane firing it too, where they are how fast they are going. Or people claiming the pantsir is a 20km death bubble when you aren’t hitting anyone farther than 8km if they maneuver.
You can usually just take a missiles max range and divide by 3 and get pretty close to what is realistic for hitting a mach+ target that isn’t flying in a straight line.
Manufacturers do have an incentive to list the absolute max range for what is possible against the easiest targets.
Laser + IOG weapons were able to do exactly that for months.
GNSS doesn’t change anything on how the missile works.
You can already launch IR AGMs with POINT lock from far away and if something enters their FOV at 12-13km or below they’ll start tracking it.

IRIS-T SLM currently has effectively “better stingers”. And the missiles have been gutted so much, and made vulnerable to flares to the point the FlaRakRad might outperform it. The missile is faster, has higher explosive massive, higher G pull, etc than the nerfed IRIS-T SLM.

So what’s the point of new SAMs if they’re not going to be a direct threat to CAS especially KH38MT.
I’m so tired of having to maneuver and chaff just to kill one Pantsir while Russia gets to sit at +10km and vaporize our whole team.

Nothing your best bet is to use Flarakrad or you can use the new Sams and just imagine your doing something and pretend you dont get shot 20ft in every direction by a KH38MT or bout to be the infamous KH38ML with GNSS
You better move your SAMs every few second to not get sniped by that creature KH38ML, crazy how Russia gets to have all this luxury while NATO gets nerfed to the ground.
This was gaijin’s opportunity to sort it out as well. Unfortunately, it seems they just… didn’t. Tells you all you need to know really.
Their BIAS is getting more clearer by the day honestly.

Moving SAMs on most maps is pointless. Game literally renders less trees and basically no bushes so u cant hide ur SAMs. Other than evading glide bombs its as i said much pointless. It is still better to always move out of spawn tho
