New Rule Regarding BHP/PS conversions Should be Reverted

As of Today (19th October 2025) There is a new Rule regarding Conversions from BHP (Imperial Horsepower) and PS (Metric Horsepower).

In game Gaijin uses Metric Horsepower, and had previously accepted bug reports regarding the Conversion between Imperial and Metric Horsepower. But going Forward this will no longer Occur for almost ALL vehicles affected in game.

This Choice should be Reverted at the earliest opportunity.

Evidence for this Change comes From one of my Bug reports, and a further Clarification by a Bug Reporting Manager on Discord

Proof above of the fact they had Converted between BHP to PS in the past

Regardless of vehicle or engine power it WILL ALWAYS BE A 1.4% PERFORMANCE INCREASE, there is no selective vehicle that will benefit more or benefit less from conversion, it will ALWAYS be the same margin and the same Significance,

BHP to PS reports have gone through for the history of War Thunder, and maybe recently been acted on, this is a new policy and hurts the historical accuracy of the game. such as the Churchill and Archer Horsepower reports that were fixed last Major Update (Tusk Force),

(Archer’s was not listed in the Patch notes)

Both of these were Increases FAR below 20 PS, being 3 and 5 PS respectively

To achieve a 20ps benefit from the conversion you would need Over 1440bhp, and as only 2 Nations in War Thunder still use Imperial Horsepower, This will only effect Future Abrams Variants, or Challenger 2 HAAIP or Challenger 3

This will mean that ALL British/US origin vehicles, that are not currently correct (there are plenty) will never be able to get their correct Horsepower, and will be at an ahistorical disadvantage compared to that of other nations

For Example, this would mean the Challenger 3 (TD) will be Permanently missing Horsepower, as when its Horsepower was reduced from 1500ps, it was erroneously reduced to 1200, not the 1217 (1200 Imperial to metric), as this is not within the 20ps limit, it will never be rectified

This decision by the Devs should be Reverted, as it leads to a Historical discrepancy for the game, leading to All otherwise incorrect vehicles, to be permanently incorrect.

This Is a Double Standard, as All other vehicles in game Will be Using the higher raw Metric Horsepower value, while US/UK Vehicles will use and continue to use the lower Imperial Horsepower values And as a result will Permanently underperform in game. Which would not be the case if we could report these errors

Please add further Examples of what will be impacted by this change, And add your own feedback

Do you think that this choice should be Reverted?

  • Yes, It should be Reverted
  • No, all BHP/PS conversions should be scrapped

1.39% to be exact, but yes having so far corrected numerous hp/ps conversions it feels quite ridiculous for it to no longer be reportable. Meanwhile we have yet more US and British equipment being added to the game which will presumably not be converted in advance (see Chieftain 900, which would otherwise have 912.5 ps).

We have the bug report website through which we report the plentiful inaccuracies found in the game, to be implemented… maybe?

The number of non-trivial reports for equipment of all nations with submission dates from 2-4 years ago is appalling. I have in the past submitted hp/ps conversion reports specifically because they are so trivial that they can be solved within a few minutes, yet apparently this takes up too much time.

Time otherwise spent doing what, again? Adding yet more and more high-tier, high-pricepoint content and neglecting the lower tiers that bring people into the game in the first place.

There’s literally no reason to not just convert from imperial to metric units in this case. It’s a simple ask that’s easy to implement and makes the game slightly more accurate to reality.
I don’t get why they chose this hill to die on.

You’d think after telling Gaijin this applies to all Imperial measurement vehicles they’d do an independent investigation and fix them themselves, then ensure all future vehicles are already implemented to this standard.

Instead they’ve decided to simply ignore these reports meaning any vehicle that hasn’t been fixed or that will be added later never gets the correct performance.
