Hello,
With the fade-out of Windows 10 support, I would like to transition to Linux on a new PC that I would like to assemble myself. Any hints/advice for the new hardware (especially graphic card)? Currently, I use a Nvidia RTX 1080 at around 120 fps and my gaming monitor supports GSYNC w/240fps.

Have you considered what distro you are using?
I’d try it on your current rig as a dual boot before jumping in feet first.
I’ve been looking at going Linux myself, but never really take the leap.
Hi FlyingDoctor, Kubuntu, SuSE, Debian would be my first thoughts. I currently run Kubuntu in a VM and use it for everything that works on Linux. Dual boot is not an option, I would like to set up the new PC with Linux so that I can still work on the old one until Linux is fully working (which I know can take some time). Windows 11 is a great incentive to change for me.

Go for an AMD card if you can. Less hassle with amd on linux in general
Use care with a virtual machine.
There are several threads here reporting a problem with the anti-cheat system and VMs. Search the forum for “virtual machines”.
